Uncle Wiggily and the Big Dog is a short story in which the old gentleman rabbit, travelling with a kind elephant, finds himself in serious danger after spotting a large black dog in the woods. Convinced the dog means harm, Uncle Wiggily bolts down the path — ignoring urgent warnings — and tumbles straight into a deep lake.
