Uncle Wiggily and the Clothes Wringer is a short story in which young puppy Peetie Bow Wow lands an after-school job helping a circus elephant squeeze water from his enormous clown costumes. The work seems simple enough — until the elephant's trunk keeps turning the wringer while two very loud, very deaf elephants drown out Peetie's desperate cries for help.
