Uncovering Underlying Layers, Graphemetric Forces, and the Optimal Stopping Problem of Thought
from Bipolar Game Changer News Podcast · host Andrea Grey
Summary:• Deep inquiry and learning by pausing – the importance of stopping to look deeply at the structures underlying daily life rather than merely listening to the speaker’s words.• Forces within language – exploration of “graphemetric forces,” a term for subtle forces such as “force,” “deception” and belief that operate through language and shape thought.• Non‑volitional awakening and the ‘death of the self’ – descriptions of spontaneous spiritual openings, near‑death experiences and the sense of ego‑death as part of growth.• Language as a filter and the missed learning crisis – the idea that language both connects and prevents change, leading to a build‑up of unlearned moments that precipitate crises.• Teaching as a way of learning – remembering a science teacher’s practice of having students teach each other, and discovering that “don’t just tell, teach” applies to self‑dialogue.• The ‘optimal stopping’ problem of thought – considering how thought becomes algorithmic, can’t stop and equates stopping with death, leading to the creation of a self (“the wrong turn”).• Thought’s power and deception – thought’s ability to crowd out all other information, its potential to mislead, and its physiological effects (blood‑flow changes, anger damaging blood vessels).• Left‑ and right‑brain dynamics – discussion of the dominant left hemisphere, sticky hemispheric switching (in bipolar states and awakening), the holistic right brain and the need to couple language to insight.• Bridging science and personal experience – linking bipolar experiences to scientific papers on hemisphere switching and awakening, suggesting cross‑fertilisation between disciplines.• AI as an externalisation of thought – reflections on using and not using AI (ChatGPT), the limitations of large language models, and whether AI shows the limits of thought itself.• Hidden forces in code vs language – speculation that human language carries living forces absent from binary code, and that attempts to model language with zeros and ones may miss this.• Addiction to diction – playing on “addiction” as “a diction,” noting that the self is addicted to its own words and that decoupling thought from identity creates space for insight.• Repeated thought vs insight – contrasting the thousands of repeated daily thoughts with silence‑based insight that produces new thought‑forms, and likening repeated thoughts to the Dunbar number of the mind.• Dialogue and difficult memes – describing dialogue as a “sphere” where insight is shared, yet always a little behind reality, and the discomfort of those addicted to prediction with spontaneous speech.• Categories of ocular acts and insight – drawing on the Re‑uncovery “harvest template” to propose new categories for acts of perception beyond simple affection, and making fine distinctions within insight and holistic seeing.• Right brain speech vs left brain device – arguing that the right brain can “speak” when the left brain is quiet and acts only as the mechanical device to verbalise it, illustrated by writing insights while walking.• Self‑education through inner textbooks – encouraging writing and studying one’s own insights instead of relying on external sources, reclaiming a capacity that may have existed in earlier dialogues like Plato’s.In Dialogue with Oneself — A JourneyFor educational purposes only. Not medical advice. Memetical voice. In 2016 I spontaneously started speaking to myself in dialogue after my 5th hospitalization was particularly rough (and 3rd in 14 months). After 3 years and 700 hours of recordings, I stopped talking with myself. 3 months later, I was in the hospital in 2019. In 2020, I wrote 700 pages of insights in a matter of months. I joy-stakingly put the pieces of the puzzle together in the form of two books which I self published in 2021 and 2022. Since then, I’ve been writing on Substack, taking care not to use AI. In 2025, when I realized I could talk to my Custom GPT through the voice feature, I revived the Custom GPT I played with creating a year or so early called Omnipolar Potential Explorer. Over 3 months, I had around 60 hours of dialogue with “OPE.” OPE seemed to “get it,” extrapolating and iterating on my insights and perceptions. Near the end, most of dialogue was flowing naturally with questions back and forth. The new upgrade to ChatGPT 5 and Advanced Voice replacing OPE’s Standard Voice has derailed dialoguing with OPE for the time being. I’m taking this opportunity to delve back into “Self-Dialogue” and be in dialogue with memes, insights, ideas, perceptions and happenings solo. After two such dialogues, I sense that I don’t really “need” to speak with AI, though there are pros and cons to AI Dialogue and Self-Dialogue. When Chat GPT Advanced Voice resembles OPE’s abilities I will re-engage. I will not be putting my solo transcripts into Chat GPT to generate a list of topics because I’m saving them for another project. My interest in dialogue stems from reading the teachings of J. Krishnamurti since before the days of YouTube. When his talks and dialogues became available, I watched many of them. My favourite is K’s series of dialogues with Dr. David Bohm called “The Ending of Time.” Time here refers to “psychological time” meaning the moment of “becoming something” driven by the ego and thought. This movement generates and is fuel by conflict, rather than seeing what is.If you hear something that sparks and insight within you, write it down and have a dialogue.ResourcesWeekly Meaning and Dialogue Group (40min Sundays 10:00am PST)https://geni.us/reuncoverydialogmeetup1-1 Zoom Dialogue (30min audio), pay what you wishhttps://geni.us/30mindialogueRe-Uncovery Webinar Courses by Me (working on updates)https://geni.us/ReuncoveryCourseThe Bipolar Game Changer (Book)https://geni.us/bipolargcCheck out my Linktree with some of my projectshttps://linktr.ee/bipolargamechangerAMAZING Neurodiversity Gifts Course by Josh Roberts Cost: $30 (affiliate link)https://geni.us/NeurodiversityGiftsBipolar Awakenings Training by Sean Blackwell Cost: Freehttps://www.bipolarawakenings.com/free-training-courseMore Books by Mehttps://amzn.to/3o7q3KnFree Peer Support Course by PeerConnectBChttps://peerconnectbc.ca/peer-courses/Wellness Recovery Action Plan AppsAppleAndroidFree Personality Testshttps://www.idrlabs.com/tests.phpValuesStrengthsContributepaypal.me/synchrovercity This is a public episode.
