Uncut: Diebler, Royal, White chat Ohio State’s historic 50-point win over Evansville

Throughout the year, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions. About 20 minutes after capping off Ohio State’s first 50-point win in a decade, freshman forward Colin White and sophomore forward Devin Royal spoke to the media about their individual performances and how they’re both growing up within the Ohio State men’s basketball program. White, who was at the podium because Royal wanted him to be there after having a big game, said he’s trying to make the most of the limited opportunities he has. He also spoke a bit about Evan Mahaffey and what the junior forward brings to practice and games every day. Royal shared what Diebler told him before the game and confirmed that his plan was to drive to the basket and not settle for jump shots against Evansville. He also talked about how he remembers some of the same “learning moments” White is currently going through as a freshman. Diebler talked about White and Royal more than any other players, saying that White has worked on everything Diebler has asked him to work on since he committed to Ohio State in 2023. He also said Royal’s full arsenal was on display, and although he didn’t attempt a three on Tuesday, he needs to watch the film to make sure Royal didn’t intentionally pass up any threes, either.
