from The Overcomer’s Journey: The Podcast · host Maphelia Hannah
Proverbs 3:5-7 (MSG) Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for GOD's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track. Don't assume that you know it all. Run to GOD! Run from evil! In other words, I am trying to go at it on my own, which in turn says, I don't need. God. This is an indicator of pride, which goes before distraction (Proverbs 16:18). And if I am not praying, I have to question my relationship with God. I have to examine (test and evaluate) my own self to see whether I am holding to my faith and showing its proper fruits (2 Corinthians 13:5). The average believer us average because they live in the comfortable zone. Thus, the average Christian has no victory because in order for victory to be achieved for it requires the one looking for it to become uncomfortable. Prayer is not comfortable. It is not comfort food. It does not satisfy the longing of our flesh. It does not fill its appetite. For it loves to live on Fantasy Island where it wants its every wish to be HIS command. Trust in the person of prayer [Jesus]. Trust in the process of prayer. Trust in the potency of prayer (the prayer of the righteous man or woman availeth much. We are righteous, not because of us, but because of HIM.
