Okay. Oh, when you kill that guy and throw his body in the woods. And your boyfriend seems good and in a moment not so good. Oh, the time, oh, the chest is near here.
Hell, on a bridge with my AP class, that's where I'll be. I forgot to stick the landing. Welcome to the Tuesday show. Oh, my God.
You forget that whole thing was a beautiful landing. Are you kidding? Thanks. Thanks.
The last line should have been something with kill probably, right? I mean, yeah. Did you, uh, what, did you wrote that what today yesterday? As well, I wrote the last line as we were talking.
So, so that is hot off the bus. Yeah, pretty, I would have been right at home in the Brill building, just turning out gold based on existing songs. That's what they did there, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, in the spirit, in the grand tradition of last week's episode, we're doing another pilot. And we famously blew right past due to there being too much content. That's right. And ethos that we've long since abandoned.
So it only felt right that we return it. Yeah. Oh, I beg and I beg Rob to let us skip the chapel weight and he says, no, we cannot skip the chapel weight. Yeah.
But I mean, I guess, you know, the, we said that we won't do a series, right? And chapel weight is like a sort of mini series, right? We do mini series. Limited run.
Limited run, exactly. I mean, under the dome is like three, three seats, it's like 40 episodes. It's a lot. Yeah.
And they cover a lot of ground from what I can see in the sort of, you know, I keep, we keep I'm to be open here. We do work. But it's playing the sort of like promo reel, the electronic press kit. Yep.
And there's some wild stuff happening here. I mean, I'm seeing a public hangings on scaffolding. Sure. I'm seeing pots and pans flying around the room as though by the hands of some invisible force.
But a hand of a Swedish chef, perhaps. I saw one of the characters from the pilot dead on the ground. Mm hmm. I, yeah, I was reading the Wikipedia for this, right?
So like after I watched the pilot, I was like, oh, this is like kind of interesting, right? Not like the premise and the pilot, at least, you know, it's not like blow you away, like, you know, get, get, get their hooks into you immediately or anything. Yeah. It seems like it's a good to medium sci-fi show, right?
Totally. And then I read some of the Wikipedia for like season three. Uh huh. What the fuck are you talking about?
And I guess what I'm wondering is like, at what point, if at any point do you think it deviates from the source material? Yeah, I mean, I don't know. Is there source material? Yeah.
Okay. Yeah. Sure. I'll tell you what I like about this.
Okay. I like that it's a sort of boilerplate Stephen King premise. Totally. I'm just going to go over it.
Yep. And he basically, he was just like, what if I did a cage match of a regular Stephen King story? Right. Yeah.
What if, um, what if I just like put a bunch of like a couple of wasps in a jar and shook it up? Not bad. Not bad. The whole like, you got to, you got to take it out of this town and you're throwing it away.
It's like, oh, it's pretty funny. Yeah. Because you may have to take it out, but you got to dome in. Yeah.
Yep. So let's leave some ground rules for this discussion. Rule number one, no jokes about dome, getting dome, receiving dome, none of that. None of it.
Rule number two, we call him uncle Hank. His name is uncle Hank. Yeah. Rule number three, no jokes about how he has a chrome dome.
How he's got a dome or how, or how anybody else without hair has a, has a chrome dome. Right. How his dome looks suspiciously like the dome that's over the town. That's right.
It's the first person I'd suspect. Right. Rule number, what rule were we at? Four.
Yeah. 15 minutes on how Marg Helgenberger is in this. Marg Helgenberger, who is that? I don't know.
Just like her name. Isn't she a king? Oh, she is a king woman. Yeah.
She's in the Tommy Nockers. Yeah. I mean, this show is kind of lousy with the king alums. We got a bunch.
I don't think she was in the pilot though, right? I don't think so. Did I mess her? I, maybe I couldn't pick her out of a Helgen lineup, to be honest with you.
No, she's a line up. She's a three edition. Okay. They were like, we got to juice this thing.
That's the first words. Yeah. Pick up the red phone. Yeah, get me a Helgenberger.
Yeah, Samantha Mathis though also in here. Samantha Mathis, a king alum. She of course was in Salem's Lot from 2004. And bonus show classic Super Mario brothers.
Of course. I mean, you know, fucking, what's the Sheriff's name? Duke. Sheriff Duke played by Jeff fakie, the fucking lawn morn.
The lawn mornman himself, yes. Looking great, I got to say. I mean like Jeff Fahey his career is like pretty wild a lot of like a straight-to-video sort of like smudgy stuff from 90s Mm-hmm, but I gotta say I mean I just love seeing the guy in in anything really absolutely and not for nothing like you know It's not the medius role, but I think I think he does a pretty good job, right? Of course uncle Hank uncle Hank one of the oh, I mean we should have known he'd be the bad guy Well, yeah, not a great guy sort of a reunion for Jeff Fahey and Dean Norris here.
They were both in a long That's right Dean or was like a Some sort of a higher up in the shop that Pierce Brosley was working at yep his research and that I gotta research That I gotta say is one of the worst performances. I think I've seen in any movie. We've covered When he's playing like very like an arch villain like yeah, but he's like he's too quiet. It's like yeah Yeah, like he's doing it at home.
He doesn't want to wake his parents up Uh-huh Not as well not a king alum, but a submitting of the teenage witch along yeah Beth Broderick right that voice in there. That's that that milph of voice of hers Sorry, no, she's very beautiful. I mean of yes, she is very beautiful I I she was I mean she's been in so many things. She's been acting since the 80s But she there's like this just sort of a weird thing.
I think she was in right shoe diaries The like skin a max sort of a poor thing was she in it or are you just like what I wouldn't give are you dream? Are you wish casting no no she was in it okay? Oh wait, maybe this is women stories of passion Maybe that's the one that I'm thinking of Wow. So you're pretty well versed in this genre Listen as a as a 90s kid, you know Pornography was not as readily in two-poly one.
I couldn't just pick up my phone my my fucking my dial tone Like outside and look at pornography But you could but you could pay five dollars a minute. Yeah, so talk to some lady Yeah, some beautiful beautiful lady. Well, I just like I'm sorry ever I'm TV open and I'm looking for things that could possibly be similar You know just types of things based on a name something called Let's see here slammer girls That's a show where they play pogs Mm-hmm, and they all have their like it's sort of like power rangers, but with pogs interesting She's in something called the nut house two teas which It feels like the like it has a conjure something similar to like thick. Yeah, you know, it's disgusting type of thing That house she's also in something called sex appeal which I assumed was a Porno film, but is actually just a raunchy comedy.
It seems I don't know she worked with the same director on that and whatever slammer girls is Just like the name slammer. Yeah, it's girls by the way. It's girls in the slammer Oh, well that makes I didn't piece that together, but check this out sex appeal 1986. Yeah comedy.
That's the genre comedy I mean it's a it's a it's a raunchy comedy from the 80s man. It's the story of young Tony Canaloney as a As far as I got I'm in sing out in This Wait in the yeah, the Tony canaloney story. Yeah There's some adult actresses I guess in this movie as well. We have another bonus show alum in Rachel Lefave Lefebvre Lefebvre she was in White House down.
Oh, I believe she plays Channing Tatum's ex-wife That's White House down. Yes. What's the other one Olympus has fallen in this one. Sir.
Yeah, mr. President. Oh, that's fallen Get me Mike Rogers Trowel thickback Sir is my solemn duty sir. It is my solemn duty to fucking kill all of these guys Permissioned by the permission granted son.
I was nasty sir I should watch the rest of those movies those uh you show it yeah, I mean that movie was bad, but in a fun way, you know Yeah, yeah, I think White House down White House down bad I think I liked it more at the time, but upon further reflection and hearing other people say I was wrong. I've concluded that White House down is better. Yeah. Oh, we've also got a white Lotus alum I'm not a white Lotus guy who who oh then we won't talk about it.
I won't spoil it for you Anyone else you want to shout out while we're here. Yeah, that's it sure. Yeah So keep going under the dome Dan. Yeah, did you like us?
Did you like this episode? I thought this was like Really strong? 2006 Shit would you come out 2013? Yeah, yeah No, but I agree with you it well, okay, this may be this is what TV was like in 2013 I think you're right if this feels like 2006 to me when is Friday night lights.
That's like 2006 yeah five or six. Yeah, that's what this feels like yeah What the writer strike was what oh seven oh eight and yeah, no other Friday night lights was you know part of them Oh, yeah, are you printing something no the Roomba is running I think or pages spot cleaning out of spite. I don't know which Yeah, the This episode gave me strong lost vibes totally totally which makes sense because the writer of this episode also wrote on lost Ryan cave on more. I think I think he's more famous as a comic book writer wrote Ex Machina why the last man?
Bunch of stuff really excellent writer. I mean I feel like that's the thing like actually kind of not that he's not a competent TV writer also, but like sure this does such a good job of setting up an entire Ensemble right you know I mean like I Think Sorry, I just got a phone call as I was talking I kind of lost my train of thought But it just like it really stands out in contrast not to beat a dead horse too much But the things we've watched recently where we made a game out of saying even one thing about each character Yeah, everyone's deal is so clearly defined by the end of this 40 minute episode. It was like yeah, man It was really refreshing Yeah, I like you know not to say anything about the rest of the show or you know seasons the following seasons or whatever But yeah, this episode felt like a fully sort of fleshed out. Excuse me flesh it out.
We're like you're introduced to I Don't like at least 10 maybe 15 You know characters new like you know obviously new characters Right and you and you get a sense of who these people are just in the the brief time that we interact with them And like not to mention like a very clear sense of like what the conflict is gonna be where like you can yeah It they're set up in such a way that's like oh I could see how being trapped in it down together would be a huge problem Oh, yeah, we're trapped in a basement, you know sort of a me a dome within a dome. Oh, man. Oh my god She's gonna get out and it's gonna be a whole thing It's gonna be a whole thing When we when we get to the end of the episode I could talk about what I read on Wikipedia spoilers. Please yeah I don't know so We open on a guy digging a hole in the woods totally normal very chill behavior in the middle of the night no less I'm sure he is Just decompressing after yeah, you know long people you know like to crack open a beer some guys like to dig holes Yeah, I like to crack open a hole in the earth And then we see of course he's throwing a body in there and he's you know Some some dead guy we don't know We're interested.
That's uh the character's name is Dale Barbara and everybody calls him Barbie. That's right. I know that's right We also see some young people having sex sex very scandalous I was I did have a nice little chuckle at just how tight the shot was on like each of them So you of course cannot see anything at all no shoulders. Yeah.
No shoulders It's this is now because this is network TV right oh, yeah, it's like ABC One such one such one such network But these these two people having sex It's junior James Renney and What's the girls name? Why can't I find that here is it Angie McAllister? It must be I think yes. Yeah so they And junior is just like oh man.
That was so great. I love that so much And he's like she starts asking about like school and college and whatever He's like I think I'm gonna drop out I don't you know I think it's like it's not for me and whatever I'm gonna move back here And she's all pissed off that he is going to come back to the town that You know she wants to escape from And he's like you know, I love you go babe, and she's like yeah, it's been a really great summer for me as well And then he says why I I yeah, and I think she like goes to leave and things take a violent turn Yeah, she goes to leave and he grabs her arm and she like instantly like turns around and just punches him right in the face I mean that's the whole thing escalates pretty quick And then you know later on you see even more from this fucking Psychopath junior how it first of all I think a lot of why I thought this came out in 2006 Despite the fact that I know that this show stars uncle Hank because of breaking bad. Yes. I I was just overwhelmed by the way that Junior looks he is the most 2006 yeah, oh see looking motherfucker you're a hundred percent right I actually Just like some of it's like fashion stuff now that it's even like extremely bold or like whatever But I did take note of it and I was just like the kind of reminds me of an earlier time in history Yeah, which like I don't know like you know It's 2013, but it's set in like Maine, you know, it's not like the fashion.
It's not like it's said in the frickin OC orange County Right, that was in Milan. I mean there's Not on the cutting edge here Yeah, so like just as like you know as a costuming choice It probably made sense to be like let's go with the like what would it be like the open Henley on him? Is that 2006 yeah, I could be 2006 yeah American Eagle. Yes.
Yeah, very American Eagle. Yeah So we meet those folks. We also meet the sheriff sheriff Duke and his deputy Linda How do you say esky skivale esky? I'm looking for her name on the oh, I guess yeah Yeah, we'll go or just get a little ask it let's say eskyvelle.
I feel that's good well and Yeah, we get a little bit of a sense of the two of them their dynamic super like the first like ten minutes before the dome actually goes up It's very like, you know, small town friendly kind of shit the kind of stuff that we always sort of see in these ensemble Stephen King sort of stories like the Tommy knockers or Storm of the century or something like that where you know early on we get a sense of like who everybody is and everybody's just so nice to each other I'm sure nothing bad will ever happen to anyone here. There's a nice town. It's a nice town Yeah, you know what you know, it actually thought was like pretty good What's that with Dean Nars his character like one of those one of those little nice moments is his character sister Uncle Hank Schrader Big Jim if you insist he's big Jim. Yeah His little nice character moment as he goes into a diner and he's talking to like the waitress She's like yeah, ever since that fucking Denny's opened up It's just been dead in here for lunch or whatever.
Yeah, and he tips are like a hundo, right? Yes, and she's like ah uncle Hank. Yeah, she's like I'll go Hank. What are you doing?
And he's like I'm buying your vote. Yeah, and it's like ha ha just kidding unless Right, it's like a clever little thing where it is just like it's a nice thing to do but also he is Literally doing that. Yeah, I mean he so uncle Hank run. He is a congressman in town and he is also a You know it's a hard dealership.
I'm sorry. Yeah. Yeah, you're right. You're right.
Councilman my comment. Yeah Yes, he's a councilman any on Z a car dealership in town here Class like a type of nice guy. Yeah, you know, he's a big deal fucking he's a big jam making it up He's a big Jim. He's a big Jim We yeah, we need some other folks More like later on we meet Julia Shumway, no, it's Shumway and it's Shumway, because I paused it I was like you sure about that.
You sure about that. Are you sure her name is Julia Shumway? Yeah, it's not a good name. That's not a great name.
No, um, but she's the this is our reporter our second Pilot in a row where the town town Rapata with a big head of red hat is seen Mucking it up. She's raking that muck. Yes. She's she's she's raking muck.
