Under the Eye of God
from CR101 Radio - Podcast Network · host R.J. Rushdoony
A foreign visitor once marveled that Americans will sit at a red light at 2:00 a.m. with no car in sight an unconscious habit inherited from Puritan forebears who lived with the deep awareness that God’s eye is always upon us. Early Americans obeyed even in solitude because they knew there is no escaping God: He sees every sin, but also every need and every faithful act unnoticed by men. Though many today no longer believe, the old habits linger yet habits cannot survive without the living faith that once produced them. By turning blind to God, we have not escaped His gaze; we have simply become blind ourselves, following blind leaders toward judgment. Only by seeing again through God’s grace can we live under His watchful care and blessing.
