Under The Top Coat: Full Interview With Donna

In this special Under the Top Coat interview, we sit down with Donna to hear her incredible, emotional, and inspiring journey through love, loss, and motherhood.   Donna was a physician’s assistant who married a resident surgeon in her late 20s, and like so many couples, they dreamed of building a family together. After having their first child, their story took a heartbreaking turn with a miscarriage—and then the devastating news that she was likely infertile.   But Donna didn’t give up.   In the 1990s, when IVF was still new and far less common, she took a leap of faith and pursued fertility treatment… and ended up pregnant with triplets.   And just when they thought their family story was complete? Life had one more surprise waiting—a surprise fifth child.   This is a conversation about resilience, hope, grief, faith, medical miracles, and the wildly unpredictable paths families sometimes take. Donna’s story is honest, powerful, and full of heart—and a reminder that sometimes the journey looks nothing like the plan, but can still be incredibly beautiful.
