Episode 10: We all know mental illness doesn’t discriminate. Regardless of age, gender, or race, anyone can suffer from anxiety, depression, and other conditions. Still, there are unique perspectives and challenges that are worth exploring. In today’s episode of The Noisy Mind, we honor Black History Month by discussing the mental health experience of African Americans. Racial trauma, stigma, and a lack of provider representation are just some of the reasons why Black Americans are 20% more likely to experience struggles with their mental health.   We talk with Brandy Porche, a licensed professional counselor about the mental health needs of Black Americans and, more importantly, how we can provide support.
