Understanding Morning Emotions by Analyzing Daily Wake-Up Alarm Clock Use

from Science Exposed · host Science Exposed

This study focuses on understanding the impact of morning alarm usage patterns on emotions. The researchers recruited 373 users of the Alarmy app from the United States and South Korea and collected information about their demographics, usual behaviors, and morning emotions over a two-week period, along with daily alarm logs. The results suggested that the time when the alarm was set had a positive correlation with feelings of peace and refreshment in the morning. Conversely, task-based alarms were linked to feelings of nervousness. The time it took to deactivate the alarm after it rang was negatively associated with happiness. The study concluded that daily alarm usage patterns can be used to supplement traditional survey methods for daily emotion monitoring.REFERENCE:Oh KT, Ko J, Jin N, Han S, Yoon CY, Shin J, Ko M.
