Chances are you won’t have considered exactly HOW disputes are resolved through the legal system, well, unless you’ve had to. In our second episode of Rule of Thumb we hear women and lawyers talk about the different meetings, conversations, mediations, court dates and ‘jobs’ that need to happen in order to get an outcome. And importantly we get an understanding of all the other things that are happening in women’s lives while this is going on. You’ll hear why some people can find it a frustrating, unpredictable and lengthy process. As we hear these stories, we start to think about how the legal system is set up, and whether or not it has processes in place to provide appropriate and safe access to justice for everyone, particularly women who are in vulnerable situations.
NOTE: This podcast discusses family violence which may be triggering for some listeners. It also contains legal information which is not intended as legal advice.
