Underwood’s Freshman Fire Test | Michigan Wolverines Football News

Bryce Underwood’s freshman season with Michigan is already a firestorm — not for his wins, but for his woeful play. After a shaky 13-12 victory over Western Michigan, where he completed just 11 of 21 passes for 123 yards and finished dead last in quarterback impact rankings, Whittingham dropped a bombshell: no one’s job is safe, including Underwood’s. Despite a massive $12M offer backed by Dave Portnoy and Larry Ellison, and hopes pinned on a new coaching staff, the pressure is mounting. Analysts like Booger McFarland are already warning of disaster if he doesn’t turn it around fast. While he flashed some rushing ability — 47 yards and a TD — Michigan’s ground game struggled overall. Underwood admits mistakes and is working to fix them, but with Whittingham’s blunt honesty and the stakes sky-high, this could be the make-or-break moment for his college career.
