Passage: 1 Peter 3:8-22 Sermon Notes: Introduction Familiarity breeds contempt Sermon in a Sentence: Live righteously for you are not your own because you have died Point 1: Live righteously (8 - 12) -Inward righteousness -Be like-minded -Sympathy -Brotherly love -Tender heart -Humble Mind -Outward righteousness -Love and bless our enemies -Purpose is to live out our inheritance with God Point 2: For you are not your own (13 - 17) -We represent our God -Nothing is as weird as being a Christian -Apologetics is defense, love, testimony, and hospitality is offense Point 3: Because you have died (18 - 22) -Baptism and giving your life to Christ means the death of your former desires and self -We live for Christ alone -Noah’s Ark -Like Noah, we are sinners who deserved to die in those waters. -In a way, we have died, but we rise with Christ as a new creation and a new heart -God is victorious so we shall be victorious
