Unemployed People's Movement disappointed after being barred from taking part in Jobs Summit
from AM Live on SAfm · host SABC News and Current Affairs
SAfm — The Unemployed People Movement says it is unfortunate that government has decided to bar them from taking part in the Jobs Summit which aims to discuss challenges around lack of jobs and the economy. The organisation says government is refusing to listen to the people who are directly affected by joblessness but chooses instead to engage with business and labour. President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to address the much anticipated gathering in Midrand this afternoon. The dire jobs situation is reflected in the Quarterly Labour Force Survey released by Statistics South Africa for the second quarter of 2018.
