Unexpected Responses

Have you ever received a gift you didn’t expect? Maybe you were hoping for one thing, but instead you received something completely different. How did you respond? The Christmas season is often full of family dinners, gift exchanges, last-minute shopping, and, for some, the weight of grief and loss. With so much going on, it can feel overwhelming. We hear the same carols, tell the same stories, sip the same eggnog. But what if, hidden in the midst of all the familiar, there was a surprising unexpected invitation from God just for you this season? In the Christmas story, ordinary people living ordinary lives received unexpected messages from God, messages that changed everything. Zechariah faced doubt, Mary responded with faith and song, shepherds went running with joy, and Simeon worshiped in patient trust. Each was interrupted in their routine, each was invited to participate in God’s renewing work, and each responded in ways that transformed their story. This Christmas, discover how God’s unexpected interruptions can reach into your life, disrupt the ordinary, and invite you into something extraordinary.
