Union Saves A Nurse From ICE with guest Puneet Maharaj
from Good Chats For Lefties · host Two Squared Media Productions
A few days ago, we read a story on Good News For Lefties about Maine Medical Center nurse Debora Kapisha. Despite her work authorization, Kapisha was arrested on July 30 while traveling through Boston's Logan Airport. She’s an asylee and Zambian national. Her union, National Nurses United, leaped into action, and one day after nurses and union members rallied in her support she was released by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and is back home. Here to discuss this with us is Puneet Maharaj. She’s the executive director of National Nurses United and its largest affiliate, California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee — together, the largest U.S. union and professional association of registered nurses with more than 225,000 members.Link:https://www.nationalnursesunited.org/Story:https://www.nationalnursesunited.org/press/debora-kapisha-rn-freed-from-ice-custody
