Summary
Union-Scioto Schools Treasurer John Rose and Levy Campaign Co-chair Mark Anderson talk about the quarter percent, 30 year permanent improvement income tax levy facing voters May 2nd. The levy would replace the existing 45 year old 1,100 seat gymnasium with the multipurpose Sherman Community Center. Anderson says seating capacity would expand to 1,800 with potential for more seating. Rose says the proposal is in response to a community-wide survey. Rose says the district has created changes within its budget with the new facility in mind as part of permanent improvement. Rose notes the levy will handle more than the Community Center, including technology needs and ongoing maintenance needs. He says the existing half-mill building maintenance which will end in the 2022 and the 1.4 mill bond issue that paid for the 1999 improvements will also come to an end. For more information, Rose can be contacted by email: [email protected] or (740) 773-2368 Ext. 1104.
