Unique Challenges Of Being Married To Veterans/First Responders

I don't know if you have seen many vets in your practice over the years, but perhaps there's a theme that could be interrogated here. My wife sees some of my adult behaviors as either outright pretentious or at a minimum annoying. I have tried to identify the cause and the best I can come up with is being an adult child of a dysfunctional home but then later finding the structure and discipline I needed to "normalize" my life in the military. Many of those habits have followed me for the rest of my life. Behaviors like routine, adherence to schedules, neatness, and even how I fold my clothes. I suspect it was the personal growth I achieved in the service that made me successful in college after I got out, and within my professional career today. As a reference point, I am now 52 and have been out of the service for nearly 30 years. Anyway, just a thought that maybe there might be something here to discuss in a post or on a podcast.
