The United Nations was officially created when a UN charter was ratified on October 24 1945. United Nations Day is devoted to making known to people of the world the aims and achievements of the organisation. The UN consists of other bodies such as the World Health Organisation (WHO); the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and many more. But has it made real progress in advancing and building the African continent? We have seen many instances when the UN has deployed peace keeping missions in countries where war is rife but is that how far it should go and does this body have a future in Africa?
