Over one thousand data experts from around the world are meeting this week in South Africa's coastal city of Cape Town, for the inaugural United Nations World Data Forum. The three day conference aims to serve as a launching pad for various data producers and users, to be able to get behind a new Global Action Plan for Sustainable Development Data. One of the key policy issues to be examined includes rethinking how to strengthen official statistical capacity in those countries where it is needed.
