By the end of 2026, its subsidiary, UnitedHealthcare, will eliminate prior authorization (PA) requirements for chiropractic care, along with numerous other healthcare services. The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) has lauded the decision, with its president, Dr. Kris Anderson, highlighting how improved access to chiropractic services supports evidence-based, non-drug approaches to pain management. This is particularly relevant in the context of reducing reliance on prescription opioids for common musculoskeletal conditions.
