it's monday and i guess that's a new beginning or is it and am i just too damn old for new beginnings are you too old for new beginnings are you too young for new beginnings no you're never too young for new beginnings but let's talk about monday being a new beginning and lots of good reasons to have new beginnings well hello welcome to the daily break my name is michael gross it's monday yeah and some people just love the fact that it's monday but can we ever see these people especially like on tiktok and and people that you run into in your daily life like it was monday like why is monday so bad monday is a new beginning monday is a day to rejoice monday is when you get to just put all the crap behind you from last week and start new this week and hopefully organize yourself and just feel better about everything how's that yeah and are you too old for a new beginning i don't know i'm old and then you read about the people who say age is just a number increase the new beginnings yeah and you say oh jesus let me go back to bed uh you know i'll feel better after a nap no get your ass up and do things you know every every moment presents a chance for growth and learning new crap and no matter where you are in your journey if you're old if you're middle-aged if you're young just keep moving and do new things it fosters resilience and a sense of vitality it really does i get really hyped up when i start doing new things i have a fun day yesterday i went out bebopping with my favorite ex-wife ex-wife number two that's diane you've heard me speak about her fondly for years and i will speak about her fondly for the rest of my life uh but we go out and we have fun we do new things we always look for new things to do and one of the fun things that we do is looking for new things to do or deciding new things to do so i've got a bunch of ideas coming up for her and i that i think just might be a lot of fun and you know the important thing about the new beginnings is you need to let go of your limitations yes and most of those by the way are self-imposed they really are it's never too late to pursue a dream or embark on a first chapter in your life that's what they say although sometimes i feel as though i am too old but i'm really not i can do new crap i've got a writing idea that popped into me last night at three o'clock in the morning i kind of dreamt that well you see i've done something smart i've done something absolutely smart i have a little notebook with a pen that has a place right in it to keep it so i don't lose the pen i've done this before i put a little yellow pad there but i couldn't find the damn pen i used a pen during the day no this is attached it's its own pen and i got up and i wrote down the new project writing project i want to do and it's a series of very small books very small books that will be very inexpensive and i'm all excited about that so just challenge the notion that you're too damn old or or anything or that it's too expensive you can always figure out a way to make things work you really can and you know the one thing i'm very grateful for is i have some wisdom that i put some stuff away from years ago that is still floating around one of the things people tell me especially people that i know tell me that i have an amazing memory about little things and that is true i have this amazing memory of little instances that happened throughout my life i was telling my son and his girlfriend about my meeting with glenn w turner in the 70s when he was running for congress if you don't know who glenn turner was or glenn w turner was google him a real interesting guy went to federal prison he was a crook he was you know just the nicest guy in the world and he actually changed my life and he didn't charge me to change my life so you know just take all of the wisdom that you have and celebrate it know that you can turn that wisdom into new experiences which is kind of what i'm doing kind of having this discussion with my kids about glenn w turner made me go to bed and think about it and then i woke up at three o'clock in the morning that's where i got the idea for this series of books was from my experience with glenn turner in 1972 that i shared with my kids isn't that exciting i think it is so this is cool uh seek inspirations from those who have you know gotten into new journeys i i do that all the time um i know somebody by the name of hal coleman hal coleman is kind of a curmudgeon now but he's also one of the most aggressive thinkers that you would ever meet he's well into his 70s he has a podcast specifically an industry related podcast and unless you're in that industry i'm not gonna share it with you but i listened to him this morning him and mike stewart mike stewart is the guy that wrote the music that you heard when i opened up the show they do a podcast once a month and i was again absolutely amazed at the information that i got which helped progress the idea that i came up with at three o'clock in the morning by the way that idea that i came up with at three o'clock in the morning kept me from going back to sleep for a long time so i'm glad i wrote everything down really um uh just when you're going to run into a new idea approach that new beginning with curiosity and be very optimistic uh each step forward in this opportunity is going to be an opportunity to grow it truly is so i want you to think about that i want you to be grateful for that and just know that everything that we do is an opportunity every experience that we have should be fun if it's not fun why do it look to the future think about fun shit that's what i do at this stage of my life i only want to do fun shit writing these books is going to be fun shit it really is they're going to be 60 80 page books and there's going to be a series of them and they will they're going to be cool they're going to be cool all right tomorrow is tuesday dammit and we'll have something more to say then we'll talk to you later you
