National Basketball Association (NBA) Hall of Fame Player and Coach Lenny Wilkens of the 1979 NBA World Champion Seattle Supersonics will be honored at the event. *Dr. Jesse Wineberry, SR., JD comments on the commitment that the University of Washington President Ana Mari Cauce announced that she is initiating a review of the institutions practices in admissions, hiring, and contracting to lay the initial groundwork to implement I-1000. *Toyia Taylor, MC, Carolyn Riley Payne Appreciation Day Committee comments on the workings of the committee to honor Mrs. Riley Payne for 40 years (1979-2018) of service and leadership to students and others who participated in the Seattle King County NAACP Afro Cultural Technological Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO). The event will be held July 13, 2019 6:00 pm at Seattle's First AME Church. *Chardonnay Beaver, a 2019 Garfield High School Graduate who was involved in student government for three years, she served as All Student Body president 2018-2019. She is a founding member of New Generations Group. She will attend the University of Washington this fall and was the recipient of a number of scholarships. *Lyric Harris, Garfield High School Bulldog All State track star is a 2019 graduate and has accepted a scholarship to Georgetown University in Washington DC.
