Urban Paradise Guild President Sam van Leer - 1/18/16 - Ep. 110

The Urban Paradise Guild has adopted 5 sites in Miami-Dade County, where they work with volunteers on projects that make physical improvements to our urban ecosystems, and provide gardens to low-income families. Founder & President Sam Van Leer guides the organization, which also fights for political change to keep Miami from - literally - drowning and engages in numerous acts of public service. Their website is urbanparadiseguild.org Urban Paradise Guild, ReThink Florida and other activists organized the Energy Freedom Ride to bring activists from Miami to Tallahassee to affect change on solar power issues, and to speak out to our Florida Legislature in support of Solar Choice and against Fracking. UPG also fights to keep our drinking water supplies secure, and against industrial fracking. Amazingly, even with oil prices dropping, enterprises still want to inject chemical sludge into the western Everglades to prospect for oil.
