Urgent Action Needed To Better Protect Disabled People From Violence, Abuse and Neglect

The Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission has warned that urgent action is needed to better protect disabled people from violence, abuse and neglect in institutional settings. Speaking before the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Disability Matters, Chief Commissioner Liam Herrick said reform is moving too slowly and that many disabled people still lack adequate safeguards and community supports.
