Urgent reform needed for our ailing aged care system

from Morning Report

A new report into aged care has made 40 recommendations - saying New Zealand's aged care system is underfunded, overwhelmed, and in desperate need of major systemic reform. The report says the system was built for a "different era" and "if we do nothing, there will be a mountain of unmet need." It warns there could be a shortage of more than nine thousand residential beds in just over a decade, at an extra cost of nearly 600 million dollars a year. Former Labour Leader and Health Minister, David Cunliffe, who chaired the group, spoke to John Campbell.
