Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney says last minute changes by the Trump administration forced him to pull out. John Stolnis has a recap from Washington. Nevada Firestorm Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has declared a state of emergency as a fast-moving wildfire is now forcing tens of thousands of people in the Reno area to evacuate, a major highway through the area is shut down, and thousands more are without power. Correspondent Clayton Neville reports the Hawk Fire is still zero-percent contained. Iran Defies Sanctions Threat Iran continues to defy the United States despite crippling sanctions being threatened by the Trump administration, with the Iranian parliament announcing they advanced plans to charge a service fee for ships traversing the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran’s president saying a US memorandum is the best path out of a stalled war. Correspondent Rica Ann Garcia reports that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will hold a news conference today to discuss those new sanctions. The Jeffries-Kushner Meeting Both Republicans and Democrats are asking questions after reports surfaced from the New York Times that Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law, met privately in recent weeks. Musicians Plan Walkout The Boston Musicians’ Association authorized a strike for the first time in its orchestra’s history, but hours later said it would extend their plans for 48 hours after their three-year contract expired. Correspondent Donna Warder reports. Stripping Stars & Stripes The Pentagon has fired the Stars and Stripes' top editor, publisher and a reporter. Correspondent Lisa Dwyer reports the military newspaper publisher Max Lederer is voicing censorship fears following the move by the government. Canada Irate Over US Demands There is anger North-of-the-Border as Canada says it will immediately retaliate after the U.S. imposed 50% tariffs on $20 billion worth of Canadian products, but was warned by US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer that the US would respond to what he called any Canadian retaliation. Correspondent Donna Warder reports. A Beef With Beef President Trump is facing questions from his own party after his announcement to allow 300 thousand metric tons of tariff-free beef imports to the United States in an effort to bring down high meat prices, with GOP lawmakers from agricultural states concerned about the impacts to American farmers and ranchers. Correspondent Lisa Dwyer reports. Texas & Data Centers Texas Governor Greg Abbott is defending his guidelines for data centers in his state, despite criticism from President Trump on the move. Correspondent Clayton Neville reports from Dallas that data centers are becoming an election issue in the Lone Star State. Sonya Massey Shooter Dies Sean Grayson, the former Illinois sheriff’s deputy convicted of fatally shooting Sonya Massey in her home in 2024 after she called 9-1-1 to report a prowler trying to enter her home has died. Still In The Dark It’s been nearly two weeks since a severe line of storms ripped through parts of Indiana with hurricane-force winds, and still thousands of residents remain in the dark with no power and surviving on the generosity of others.
