US closes borders amid escalating Ebola outbreak

The United States has implemented a 30-day travel restriction barring non-U.S. passport holders who have recently been in the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan or Uganda, as an Ebola outbreak escalates with 500 suspected cases and 131 suspected deaths. The World Health Organisation has declared a public health emergency and is deploying experts, supplies and personal protective equipment to affected regions.
