"Specialest" of guests on the podcast, Alana, 95th episode of Milo Time, Alana reluctant to appear on Milo Time, Alana unable to complete her first attempt to record an episode, Things Milo hated could be its own list, cut fruit in water, metal silverware scratching a plate, Alana and I have been to the US Open twice this year, US Open grounds as sacred grounds, Max, Alana, and I recently went to the US Open Qualifying, Alana been going for nearly 45 years, US Open always a big day for our family, Alana had Milo on her mind all day during our most recent visit, With Milo at US Open on one crutch in 2021, Sitting in accessible seating with Milo, Watching Matteo Berrettini play Ilya Ivashka from Belarus, Milo and a random guy the only two rooting for Ivashka, Same day we bumped into Emily and Scott Medintz and watched Jannik Sinner play against Gael Monfils, "You can't stand here," Last visit to the US Open with Milo was so memorable, August/September 2021, First time Milo left the house on one crutch, So concerned for Milo's safety that day, Milo was so game, probably walked a mile or two, That day extraordinarily memorable, Staff was so lovely, Accessible parking, Tremendous work to go to the US Open, Yankee games, Nets games, movies, Milo put his shoulders back and stood a little taller when he was in the world, in places he liked to be, Max inspired us to go to Yankees games and the US Open with Milo, even though Milo was fragile at the time, Produced amazing memories for us, Milo seemed and was fragile and there was some COVID concern as well, Maybe I failed to realize how out of the ordinary the world felt to Milo, Great challenge to Milo was never feeling like himself because of the medication and because of other limitations, Australian Open when Milo was in kindergarten and Max was in second grade, Such an exciting day when we went to the US Open as a family, Planning with the boys, Ben & Jery's has been replaced by Van Leeuwen, Milo loved to watch the scores on the screens in the main plaza of the US Open, Mission command, Milo loved to track all the matches at once, First year we brought Max to the US Open we watched Donald Young play a relatively unknown Novak Djokovic, Milo's first day at the US Open we watched young Gael Monfils play an unknown Grigor Dimitrov, Thinking about how lucky we were that the boys loved tennis as much as we did, Looking over at Bethany Mattek-Sands v. Paola Hercog feeling so lucky, Watching Canadian Jesse Levine play Ukrainian Alexander Dolgopolov, Got tribal, Alana, Milo and I drove to the US Open on a lark and watched nighttime qualifying matches, Watched Ernests Gulbis and Radu Albot, Some of our dearest friends bought a plaque for Milo "Crafty Brooklyn Lefthander," Right Next to Martina Navratilova, another crafty lefthander, Please take a picture of yourself at Milo's plaque, Plaque makes the US Open grounds even more important to us, Alana's love for tennis always inspired the boys, A gift from Alana to us all, A gift that will always be with us, Seems insufficient to be focused only on tennis, but still beautiful nonetheless
