Thousands are expected to converge on the city for the nation's 250th anniversary, the 50th anniversary of the Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks, and a big World Cup match between Brazil and Norway.Mediators from Qatar and Pakistan say separate meetings with U.S. and Iranian negotiators have delivered positive progress. The discussions are set to continue after funeral observances for Iran’s former leader. Under the interim peace deal, the parties agreed on steps to reduce hostilities, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and advance future technical discussions on Iran’s nuclear program. The talks build on a ceasefire earlier this year and follow the Lake Lucerne Summit held in Switzerland in June.
