Utah Basketball's Portal Raid for Center

Utahs mens basketball team underwent a significant roster overhaul for the 2026-27 season, following a challenging first year under coach Alex Jensen. Eleven players transferred, and two more exhausted their eligibility, leaving the team with a clean slate. Jensen and his staff filled the roster with perimeter shooters like Jackson Holcombe, Taison Chatman, and TJ Burch, along with European prospect Noam Yaacov to handle point guard duties. The frontcourt features a mix of talent, including German forward Alec Anigbata, French wing Zati Loubaki, and Weber State transfer Malek Gomma. However, the team lacks a true center, which could hinder their performance in the competitive Big Twelve conference. Officials are considering adding a rim-protecting center from the transfer portal to bolster the teams paint defense and rebounding.
