UVM’s New Discount Targets New England Students | Montpelier News

Starting next fall, UVM is slashing tuition by over 35% for first-year and transfer students from five New England states—Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island—provided they major in one of 31 high-demand fields like agriculture, education, or environmental science. The goal? Fill critical workforce gaps while boosting enrollment. With savings of more than $18K annually and aligned with the expanding “UVM Promise” for Vermont residents, the university is betting big on affordability to attract a stronger, more diverse class ready to make an impact.
