UWL professor pens book on the "Golden Girls"

Do you remember "The Golden Girls?" The groundbreaking sitcom is a program which transcends generational differences.  It really doesn't matter what your age is, you probably have a story or memory of the TV show. It is 40 years since the comedy first premiered on television.  There's a new book by a UW-La Crosse television historian about the "Golden Girls."  The new release offers fans and scholars a fresh way to explore the enduring impact of the program. "The Golden Girls Tales from Lanai" is Co-edited by UW-L assistant professor of media studies Taylor Cole Miller.  Miller discusses the book on La Crosse Talk with Sean Dwyer. Through 12 original chapters and extensive interviews of producers and writers of the show, the book explores distinct perspectives, drawing from fields such as queerness, feminism, critical black studies and fat-shaming studies. This book is a rare behind the scenes insight into the making and legacy of the series, which still streams and appears as reruns today.
