VA9, Ep. 5 Above and Beneath Sacred Ground: Life is Sacred

This episode follows the Green Man to celebrate Spring in all its glory, inspired by the arrival of new life. I summon the joy that presided in the ancient rituals that honored fertility and the communal planting of seeds, heralding the importance of the harvest to share with the community. I introduce San Ygnacio, a historically relevant border town in southern Texas, which I discovered in an article about Michael Tracy's current exhibit at the McNay Museum: "The Elegy of Distance”. From "The Necessity of Ruins" ( J.B. Jackson) to history to a hefty book titled "Beneath Sacred Ground", by Art Martinez de Vara, we follow the voices of the past, which refuse to be silenced and inisist on reminding us: Life is Sacred.
