Welcome to the Tweep Trends Podcast. Hey, Evette, what's trending today? Hey, I'm Evette, hey girl! And you are tuned in to Tweep Trends.

It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today. Let's start planning for a vacation, because today is National Plan for a Vacation Day. Let's get started. Get ready, get ready for a plenty of travel inspiration and deals because today is National Plan for Vacation Day, and it is making a comeback this year, encouraging all of us to carve out some time today.

Today, guys, to look at the 2022 calendar and lock in our vacation days for the year. Now, I will be the first one to admit that I am horrible about planning for a vacation. The things that I've been calling vacations lately have been my holidays. Thanksgiving, Christmas, that sort of stuff.

Those are days that I get regardless, right? I need to be focusing in on the actual vacation time. Growing up, my parents took us on vacation every summer. Every summer, we went somewhere until, you know, you get to the point where you have jobs and, you know, summer jobs and then the traveling cut down, but I was raised on summer vacations.

Why? I can't seem to get right now. I don't know what it is, but I need to start to be intentional. And so do you.

You need to be intentional about setting your days for vacation, where you're going, what you're going to be doing. So that's what today's episode is all about. People out here are ready to travel. Do you hear me?

They are ready. They're sick of staying home and they're tired of being pent up. So therefore, that means a demand for travel could be huge, which is why you need to take the time out to plan for your vacation. So you don't think you're going to just pull some place out of the sky, hop in your car, and go, and realize when you get there, you have no place to stay.

So having that in mind, also, the other thing you want to keep in mind is the fact that hope it is still a real thing. Don't let people fool you into thinking that it's over and it's gone and that the on the cron is the destiny that happened to us because it's causing people to have fewer symptoms and all that. That just means it's harder to track. Simple as that.

So having said that, don't think that you can go globe trotting all over the place and toss your mask to the side. Don't do it. You got vaccinations and boosters and all this other stuff happening and going on. Listen to the positions, y'all.

Don't listen to the politicians because the politicians will steer you wrong every single time because all they want to do is make somebody happy so they can get a vote. Listen to the doctors. They are telling you, keep the mask, keep wearing the mask. Consider wearing a mask on the plane in the airport.

And actually, a lot of airports and planes are saying you have to wear them anyway. But so consider those things in any places where people can get together, consider having your face mask on then. Now, as far as other situations like hand watching, don't touch your face, keep physical distance, you know, it's cool with you and your family because y'all know where you have been. But when it comes to these people in these other places, you have to be careful.

You don't want to be on vacation and then end up catching COVID or the flu or whatever else is out there. So just be mindful. Be careful. Now, I want to go over some tips that you can use as you plan your vacation.

First and foremost, what I always do now, I don't know if it works, but I like to think that it does. First thing I do is when I'm doing any type of online searches, I go to file and scroll down to New Private Window. And if I'm looking for an airline or a hotel or anything like that, I do my searches in the private window because I have seen in several places where they say that if you are looking for tickets or something that you are buying and you're not doing it on a private window, what happens is the next time you go to look, the price will be higher because the cookies are tracking everything and it's leaving crumbs. It's letting people know what you've got in mind and it's like, oh, OK, well, this is what you want to do.

I'm going to raise the price a little. And if you really want to go, you're still going to pay. And that way I get more loot in my pocket and you have less than yours. So that's my first tip.

Now, as far as flexible booking policies, there are a lot out there. Some cases, it's easier to cancel a trip because of the whole COVID thing. But because it's like we're turning a corner with COVID, a lot of those things are starting to go away. So be mindful, look for those flexible booking policies to use as you set your vacation.

Also, if you're thinking about a cruise, consider waiting or make sure that there's an easy way to change your departure date. The cruise ships are still going through it. They are having trouble convincing people to get on there because it's a little floating city and you can't get out of that city until they dock someplace. So if there is a breakout of COVID or whatever on the ship, you can't really get away from it other than staying in your room and who wants to do that, right?

So you may want to hold off on a cruise. Make sure you follow whatever your destination is, the specific advisories and regional COVID policies. Make sure you follow that. One, because a lot of times if you're going out of the country, it's paperwork that you're going to have to show when you go to get on the plane.

So what you don't want to do is the hold of that process. Make sure you have done your homework, your research. In most cases, if it's a flight, they'll have the information connected to that ticket where you go to this link and fill out this paperwork and print it out and bring it with you. They'll tell you everything that you need to do.

But if you're one that doesn't like to read, then I'm going to say, let somebody else plan vacation, OK? Because we can't afford to be held at the airport or wherever because you chose to not read the fine print. Also, consider travel insurance. Consider travel insurance simply because you never know what might happen.

It may not even be something with the place where you're going. It could be something with you. You could end up catching COVID before it's time to go on your trip. Then you're not going to be able to go.

Then what? You're going to have any two on your hands. So consider travel insurance. You may have never used it before, but I think this is the perfect time to do that.

And the other thing is if you don't like to read, consider getting a travel advisor. Simply because they will do all the fine print reading for you. They will tell you exactly what you need. They may even sit there and feel out the information.

Just have you on phone asking you the questions. Consider it. It may be a little bit of a splurge, but if you are really, really determined to get out and about, then you'll be willing to do it. Thanks for joining me for today's episode and getting those tips on how to get your vacation plans rolling.

You have my word. I am going to do my planning today. I'm going to start it. And then I'll do a little bit more tomorrow when we have our family meeting.

And it's just going to be like a snowball rolling downhill. And it's just going to get bigger and bigger. We're going to get to that vacation. And it's going to be so great that we're just going to keep doing it over and over again.

And even if it turns out to be like a firewall vacation. And it seems bad. The fact is the family together and getting to enjoy each other and get away from all the hustle and bustle of the everyday life is still a plus, right? All right.

Give me a favor. Let me know what your plans are, where you're thinking about going, what you want to do for your vacation. Hit me up on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube at hey, that's at hy, tte, tte or just look at the hashtag tweet trends. All right.
