Vagus Nerve Involvement in Metabolic Conditions

Hi everyone! Welcome to another episode of the Health Upgrade Podcast.Today, in our mini episode we are going to dig into the topic of metabolic disease and understanding of what adipose tissue is and how its dysregulation could lead to so many other problems. Metabolic disease has to do with two types of serious medical conditions which are type two diabetes and hypertension. These conditions arise in individuals with high body mass indices or BMIs, more specifically in those with a high percentages of body weight attributable to fat. Type two diabetes stresses the pancreas and forces insulin levels to rise as the body tries to push the high glucose into those cells, which then goes through the kidneys causing stress on that organ which will lead to hypertension. We will also be discussing another important piece of this metabolic disease condition which is the autonomic nervous system and the SNS activation.  The sympathetic nervous system is responsible for the fight, flight and freeze responses of our autonomic nervous system.
