 Validity of Spiritual Restoration... We wrestle Our warfare is described as wrestling — a close quarter, coercive style conflict in which opponents attempt to defeat one another with skill, strength and endurance There are striking parallels between wrestling and our warfare against Satan and his hosts. For one thing, a wrestler must be strong. What then shall we do? Not one of us is strong within himself; nevertheless, we have access to a personal source of strength. We can and must “be strong the Lord, and in the power through spiritual exercises — daily prayer and Bible study, fasting, fellowship with other believers, praise, worship and walking in holiness.  The conflict may go back and forth with one contestant and then the other appearing on the brink of victory, but the one with superior strength, skill and tenacity will eventually emerge as conqueror.  In the Lord we become strong in soul and purpose. Wrestling requires understanding and skill in the use of wrestling techniques. There are special strategies and maneuvers to master. Study and practice are necessary to develop wrestling skills. My first attempts in spiritual battle were awkward and uncertain. I was an absolute failure. I was or experience. As I kept at it, however, I discovered that with each encounter I became more confident and more successful. Another parallel between wrestling and “our warfare” is vigilance. The wrestler must remain alert to his opponent’s every move. Once the encounter has begun there is no slacking up — no time out from the conflict. We will do well to remember that when King David decided to take a day off from battle that he fell victim to lust and committed sin with Bathsheba. The spiritual conflict may go back and forth with one contestant and then the other appearing on the brink of victory, but the one with superior strength, skill and tenacity will eventually emerge as conqueror.
