Welcome to Valier, Montana! Valier is one of the smallest towns we've visited with a population of 509 according to the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1909 along the shores of Lake Frances and a railroad line was constructed at the same time to connect the town to nearby Conrad. The town was a planned development that was designed to support a population of 3,000. Valier is predominantly a farming community, but provides many year-round recreation opportunities such as fishing, swimming, and various other water sports. The town is also close to Rock City. Rocky City has many hoodoo rock formations and provides a nice location for climbing or hiking.
