Valley Assistance Network Serving Our Community

from The Valley Today · host Janet Michael

Our conversation today with Jennifer Hall, Director of Community Investment for United Way Northern Shenandoah Valley and Abby Zimmermann, Manager for Valley Assistance Network ( a program of UWNSV) gave us some insight into the needs of our community and the big impact a little help can provide. Jennifer & Abby shared stories of recent clients with a wide range of needs from rent & utility assistance and car repairs to food and holiday requests. We talked about the outcomes and heard a few testimonials from those they've helped just in the last several weeks. Jennifer shared some statistics about the types of requests they receive and the number of families they serve through Valley Assistance Network. We talked about our local ALICE (Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed) population and how their ALICE Emergency Fund has helped to avert many crises.
