the dead of night as people sleep. That's when the spirits creep. As the belt holes three dark things take power. We like to call it the supernatural hour.

Hey everybody welcome back we are back for the supernatural hour. And from last episode we lost Ian. But after search and rescue we found her to mine shaft and your ekeita. She was rescued and she is now back.

Are you sure it wasn't Eureka Nevada? Lots of what took us a while to find her. I heard she was hanging out with Paul well to a lot lately and he goes down and like you're eating about it like every weekend. Is he done?

Eureka Nevada? Oh he goes like all the time. Oh I thought he's going to Eureka Utah. They've been they had a paracorn there this year.

Paul goes down there all the time. Anyway Ian is back. We also have silent on. We have beaker.

What's happening? A Tim. I'm taking the K out. I'm slowly facing the AK out.

We have beaker. He's a Tim. One letter at a time. And then providing silent support today is peaches.

She's just watching us and making funny faces. That's why we record. Do you know what else we found when we found Ian? What's that?

We found her notes for her history on the Salem Witch Trials that she wants to talk about. Just put Salt and Moon. Salt and Moon. We're wondering why Ian wasn't there and apparently there was a scheduling something rather than she forgot about it.

We're all wondering why Ian was that because we really wanted to be in the episode. I think before we get too far into this show we should give her a little bit of time to talk about her experience in Salem. She's actually visited Salem. That sounds like a fantastic idea.

Leading in from last show, Ian tells about your experience in Salem. I loved it. We actually silent down and I went to Boston for his work and while he worked I played. I said we should see how close Salem is because Massachusetts is just tiny tiny so it can't be that far away.

It wasn't. It was what? 30 minutes on the train. When we got there it was right before the season started.

Most of the stuff was closed which was a little disappointing but there was enough open that we were able to go. We went to the Salem Witch House which was the only house that was there that had anything to do with the witch trials. There's lots of homes and lots of buildings that were from that era but that didn't have a direct connection to the witch trials. This was actually the home of one of the judges.

We went in and we were walking around. This was early on when I first started really getting into the ghost investigations and we were back in the kitchen area and I could feel a spirit there. I looked at where the spirit was standing and I said really quietly I said I know you're there. That was very bad because turns out she followed me home and didn't realize that until we'd been home a couple days and some things happened at the house.

The pianos playing by themselves. My kids were saying that they heard me crying and I wasn't and I got to the point where I finally called Peaches and said would you please have Annie come over here and let me know what is going on and she said well you had a spirit follow you home. Her name is June and her mother was one of the people that were accused of being a witch and she said she didn't like me. June didn't like me because I looked like one of the accusers and so just for fun I hopped on to Google and Googled you know accusers of you know the witch trials and brought up the pictures of the little girls and sure enough I mean you have to kind of sort through all the ones from the movies but sure enough I found a drawing from that time period and I thought yeah yep that looks like me.

So grandi came over a few days later and we helped her cross over. The Salem is awesome I would go there anytime. Isn't that what I've never been to Salem and I don't think you've been to Salem. Peter Salem, so it's just you and Don.

So tell us about Salem. I've seen a little bit on TV and it looks kind of terse trapey so tell us what Salem was like. So I loved it. I loved the atmosphere.

There was kind of a little walking area that had a lot of shops you know like the Dancing Crane or the Crystal Ray you know little witchcraft stores, cult kind of stores. I bought some jet there that's the jet that I carry out about in Salem. I've been in tourist trapey areas and that's it's a very touristy town but I wouldn't call it a tourist trap. We get at the Salucafe that was just super cute.

They had like an old church. They had some museums. We were able to get into one of the museums that had it really quite an interactive kind of a play with animatronics. It also had the house of Seven Gables which was there at that time but really had nothing to do with the witch trials which I thought was funny because it wasn't that far away from the witch house probably what a mile.

Less probably. I mean really easy to go out from one to the other. Yeah and where nowadays you know a mile is not a big deal. They said oh yeah this was so far away that it wasn't even part of the witch trial thing and I thought I could walk there in about seven minutes.

But it's just so far removed. But no I wouldn't call it a tourist trap. I would like to go back when the seasons opened because there were some buildings and some museums that looked very very interesting. There was a museum that was where they actually hung and burned people.

Oh and the cemetery was amazing. They had I mean it was just old. I mean it's say one Massachusetts so everything was old and I have a I love old cemeteries. I'm creepy that way.

But if I go someplace old I will always go to the cemetery. But they had I don't think they were the burial places but they had long mess. It was a memorial for the people that were accused of being witches because they wouldn't bury them in the hologram of the cemetery. Right in fact some of our research showed that they weren't even sure where some of the bodies were buried because they wouldn't give them a religious burial.

Yeah but it was but on each of the memorials that had another name and what they'd gone through and you know who their family was and who their accused was really interesting. Excellent. So moving on from witch trial stuff we do have a little bit of business we're going to talk about. We do have another family tree investigation.

The one that we had set up for January 12 sold out within a few days of our 27th investigation. So Tim being the Tim that he is scheduled us another investigation for January 11th. So we'll have two nights at family tree and there are tickets available. So we need to give him a nickname.

He's Tim the benevolent. Tim the benevolent. I don't think he likes that. He speaks with you can call me that if I can continue to call you Grammy Cinnamon.

All right so eventspurnible.com is where you'll get your tickets. So what we got you talking about Salem witch trial stuff Jan let's talk recent investigations. I know that you've had a bunch and by a bunch of residential investigations since we have last had you on the show. Tell us what you have.

Oh my gosh I have been October was about three days long. Suddenly it was November. I have had so many. If I talked about every single one of them we would be here all night and we couldn't get to our main topic.

So I kind of want to just touch on on two and I actually want Tim to talk about the one that he came on with because it seemed like you really resonated with the homeowner. I did. Yeah I just kind of sat back and Brandy did most of the talking. Now we kind of explained to her what was in the home.

She had a there's a female spirit that was in the home that she heard screaming every now and then and what we found out through Peaches was that the the spirit like really connected with the homeowner and she was just trying to do stuff to kind of get her attention and let her know that she was there. There was also a couple type twos that were in the basement and that's all that I really picked up on. I couldn't really fill the energy on the other spirits but I could feel like what I felt was kind of like frustration or anxiety and at first like Peaches is like no there are a couple like fret dudes and they're just like you know messing around and you know having fun and they think it's fun to like push people's buttons and stuff like that and you know we explained that to the homeowner kind of what these spirits were like and we kind of explained to her what her options were and so finally she decided that we were going to clear the spirits out of the home and so we went down to the room that they were in and Peaches had me light some sage to kind of ward the spirits out of the home and it was funny because like as I lit the sage that's where the feeling of like frustration and anxiety started coming from the spirits because they were just being stubborn and didn't want to leave. We got to the point where I literally just started Brandy where they at and she had pointed out and I would hold the sage right where they were at until he finally just left the house but we were able to get the spirits out and we were able to take care of the situation so she shouldn't be having any more problems.

So other than the screaming what kind of issues was she dealing with prior to contacting us? She had said right outside of her bedroom was a little balcony and she had some patio furniture on there and it would sound like the patio furniture was you know be a knock-doll around she would hear knocking she had the blankets ripped off her one night because she was getting in bed and I said something I can remember that she said. Yeah I didn't really catch too much of what was going on because we got there a little bit late. Yeah but that one was fun but every once in a while you know every resident should we do is important and you know every time we go and we help people and we understand what's in their home and what's going on and deal with it with you know the way that they're most comfortable with and every once in a while one just really stands out and one that stands out to me might not stand out to Tim and one that stands out to Brandy might not stand out to Castle I mean you know just kind of depends but we went on one this last Wednesday and for me it was one of the more rewarding ones I've ever been on.

The homeowner was just literally in tears and she was just terrified that you know I mean at one point she said I would much rather that the state here with me than follow you home I mean she was very concerned about our safety as a team and we went in and her this is something that she has been dealing with for years has to do with some family issues that that we're going on in the home and you know heaviness and shadows and she would hear knocking and as far as actual activity you know no bells and whistles but just she was so emotional for the whole thing you could tell it was really taking a toll on her so when we got there it was it was me and silent on and then two investigators and so there's two men two women there and me and the other women went downstairs because that's where we could feel some energy and we discovered a portal down there and there were over 10 spirits this type one spirits that were down there that would not go upstairs and they were just kind of hanging down there but they refused to go upstairs so we got that portal closed and then we went upstairs and in the upstairs after we had done some investigating there were two very kind of gnomish low-level type 3s and then there was the grandfather of the homeowner and he had been involved in some nefarious activities some very negative activities and you know the homeowner was able to get some question answered you know she loved her grandfather but she was very very distraught at the activities that he was in what I did was he was the end can I ask that um child abuse okay not not to her not to her um and you know she was able to get several questions answered um he wanted to cross over so and we got him crossed over um we got the little gnom type 3s ousted with you know salt and sage um and then we found out that her grandmother was with her and the knocking that she heard was from the grandmother and the grandmother was trying to tell her that everything was okay and that she was protected and then she got really emotional about that and I've never been hugged so hard or so long by someone I have never met before um very very loving lady and that's that investigation was one that I felt just I don't know just a connection and it was very very rewarding you know and I think we've talked about it on the show before but and it's been a while since I've done a residential I usually that's such a busy schedule we haven't been able to do them but that's what makes doing this worthwhile is being able to go into a home and to help somebody who's done with the problem uh and I know we've talked about before but when we do residential destinations we don't charge money for that I mean it's basically it's purely volunteer right and she was so cute when we were done she's like what do I owe you what can I do for you you know I mean if we'd ask her to build us a house she probably would have built us a house she was she was so cute I could have used a house I will call and let her know hey if you can build him a house you can open up the wrong investigation I guess well you know I have a job um but keep from doing these investigations as much as I would love to do the residential uh working this way she has to make it extremely difficult for me and it's like I feel bad that I have to miss out on so much just because I mean we schedule the investigations what's best for the client when they're available and it doesn't always work out for me so like I kind of feel like I'm slacking in that area just because I'm never able to make it to those and that's kind of the same boat I'm in just with my work schedule and everything else I'm going on it's really hard for me to get there to other residential investigations but that's what makes them worthwhile is going in and seeing a difference made in somebody's life you know and I want to bring up that we don't charge for those because I don't want people to think oh you're just going to take advantage of people who are vulnerable no we're not because we don't charge anything we go in we offer a free service and we help and that's that's that well you know I like to give Deans some credit because she's got this really good knack of putting together the right team for these investigations it seems like she just knows who needs to be at each residential before she even gets there and so she's able to now every time she goes to these houses she's having to get the problem taken care of. I say and we kind of turn residential stuff completely over to Deans she's done an amazing job with it you know we all still go in and help and we've done that you guys group hug and group hug but we essentially said yeah get them get them and she's done a fantastic job with them speaking investigations what she did when last night it's a government owned building so kind of with our policy of not divulging certain locations we're not going to divulge where specifically but myself and him and a few other people a few goblins and some friends actually investigated a public building what was that sound not me I put my phone on the library to just turn vibrations. EBP. I'm picking up good vibrations.

Yeah anyway we investigated this public building and the public building at one point was used as a jail it served a number of different functions over the years it's an older building. Tim I think you figured out when the building was built didn't you? No well they did actually they found the plaque on the outside of the building it was like 1932. Yeah and who knows what was there before but kind of some mentioning experiences we had some rookies with us if you will some of the people who were caretakers for the building that night were with us and we kind of took them around and did some investigating found some mentioning things out.

Tell us a little bit about your experiences that you had there Tim. Well first off I'm going to tell you like Dark Andy and the Oliverson from the Park Offers podcast he was like crazy good at picking up energy and pointing our spirits where they were at it was kind of weird because I've never really investigated with them before but we walk into one room he's like yeah there's a spirit over there underneath the table and you know through our investigation we were actually able to confirm that and I was able to actually get the spirits name I found out she was a little girl about eight or nine years old and her name was Elizabeth and if I remember correctly she kind of thought that the the owner's wife reminded of her mom somehow and so she felt like kind of safe in the building because I guess she's always there and it was funny because like the lady asked us at one time she was I guess she was in the restroom and the sick one on by itself and I guess we heard of the confirm that it was the little girl spirit was in there washing her hands I guess or she just sent off the sick or whatever but I could be wrong on this because I'm still like I'm still trying to learn how to investigate using my body and my senses my intuition stuff like that and the information that comes to me so I know it's not always 100% accurate but I kind of got the impression that like the way this little girl died was like she was smothered like someone put a pillow over her face and just smothered her and from what I got it was her uncle that did this and which leads me to the next we're gonna kind of skip around on the list here but it brings me to one of the that was I gave you the actor you have that's no particular order I just wrote down notes of what I remember from last night so skip away so she kept referring to him from what I was getting was she referred to this man as the bad man because he reminded her of her uncle that had killed her and this was the I believe it was the spirit that the child monster spirit which was interesting because I actually picked up on that we're in different parts of the building I was upstairs on the stage of this particular building and was talking to a spirit which basically told me that it was a male spirit that had been imprisoned there he had been a child molester and the information I had and I don't know if you've had to test talk to peaches with this keep in mind what I get is always 100% accurate when we get peaches in there but it can sometimes be pretty close with the equipment but basically said that he'd been killed and they're by another inmate while he was incarcerated but we kind of determined that this child monster that I was talking to was the same was the bad man the little girl was afraid of which is kind of interesting to compare notes and see that we were basically talking about the same person yeah the other thing I thought was interesting too was some of the investigators and the women's dressing room kept filling that there was a spirit in there and it was funny because like we actually drove past the building on the way here and she was actually able to confirm that the window that we thought the spirit was hiding was actually still there but this spirit he kind of likes to watch the women as they change and every now and then he'll touch inappropriately and one of the actresses there were showing me photos of her like she was getting her makeup done and I was funny because I kind of started doing the same thing I do with the crystals when I kind of I'm doing energy healing I just kind of put my hand out and let you know the energy kind of pull me to what chrystal I need so I did that with a photo because I I'm still kind of learning how to sense energy and photos or if there is even energy and so I did that with a photo and it was funny because in every single photo my hand was drawn to the same picture at the same window and this is before I even knew that they had already found out which window the spirit liked to hang out in and I thought it was interesting that I kept pointing to this same window and every picture she showed me and it turned out to be the exact same window that our investigator Mike had determined that this spirit was hanging out and watching the actresses and essentially because after you guys had told me about this I went into that women's dressing room and you could definitely feel the energy in there um was interesting those I came out and there's like a big Santa Claus throw in the middle of the room and I was drawn to that thing like and Mike and Terry both came into their dowsing rods and I started asking if there's an attachment on the chair and they both get getting yes answers um asked if it was negative both their dowsing rods give no answers it's interesting having both of them their dowsing rods they're both getting more and less the exact same answer confirming that there was an attachment on that Santa Claus chair I think we ultimately decided that it was a residual energy that was attached to the chair that the spirit that it came with or that came with the chair was long gone but its energy was like still on the chair itself yeah I picked right up on it though I mean it was which is nice because it's been a while since I've been on an investigation we've had something like that and so it's kind of of fun except we all figured out and Tim was there I go yes still got it hey you're all excited you're asking me about is there energy on that chair and I just looked at you and I'm like that's your thing you know that's not mine like I've never been good at the object attachments yeah so for me that was kind of nice it's been a while since I've run across something so it was kind of a reaffirmation that yes I can still sense stuff like that so I know when we were all locking up and leaving I you guys left a little bit earlier before us but when I left with the finleys and everybody else I was there we didn't really have any issues did you have anything going on when you were going home oh I'm glad you brought that up because I totally forgot um in fact I actually sent you text after when I was walking outside at the time we thought there might be some type three reason that particular building um I understand you have peaches by buying later figured out there were not types of buildings there's several type twos I think she well we thought there was only like five or six years in the building apparently there's over a dozen spirits in that building so it wasn't surprising if there's some type twos pretending they're type three's or what not but yeah there was we've come across before sometimes right there's definitely some negative spirits in the building whether they're type twos or type three's but as I was walking out I saw dark shadow of shooting right past me I'd say it was probably about the size of like a hefty garbage bag like full of leaves but it wasn't after you're like full leaves um went shooting right by me and kind of up a building in front of me up towards the roof and at that point I was kind of like yeah so I ended up sending you a text and make sure that you cleanse before you go home because I'm for what I'd seen um you know I couldn't account for a shadow that large moving as fast as it was how it moved and where it moved um there was me no I'm just kidding Tim Mason talk about we'd run into the bathroom let's run into the maverick gotta get me a cheese witch um but yeah so that was kind of my the ending experience for me for the night which was interesting uh to see stuff like that and I've seen things similar to that at other investigations but it never ceases to kind of give you one of those wild moments when you see something like that when you're paying attention and having experience like that so that's probably enough recent investigations Tim Javas stone of the week for us absolutely not um actually I do um so I was going down the list of my top five and I'm gonna kind of change it up a little bit and throw in a stone you go for the bottom bottom five no so I'm actually going going for stone I had the the opportunity yesterday to meet up with some of our friends that we had on the podcast about a year and a half ago almost two years ago uh Amanda and Colton who came on and they did the energy work with the deanna myself um shortly after they went on their their walk across the country to uh raise awareness for suicide prevention I guess while they were on their walk uh they had a baby and they decided to name their son Onyx and so in honor of them and everything that they went through and you know just being able to catch up with them last night I chose Onyx as my stone of the week and the reason why and and this is why they why they name their son Onyx as well um I thought it's really cool because this is kind of a powerful protective stone but it also helps um I mean they help them with their walk and finishing their walk just by choosing the name and you know they have so much left with the stone but this stone actually helps you uh release any like fear or doubts that you might have in yourself and it helps you release all of that so you can actually achieve and accomplish the things that you're trying to set up to achieve and when they told me that they named their son that because of this and it's what helped them finish their walk across the country it just kind of really spoke to me so I wanted to kind of honor them with that making uh Onyx the stone of the week. Excellent all right let's move on to weird paranormal news I've actually got two stories tonight that we're gonna talk about um first one is the haunted potato masher um there's a video floating around on youtube of a woman who inherited her grandmother's potato masher it's old wooden potato masher and the woman claimed that since she's obtained this potato masher that it moves on its own and she hears creepy voices and things of that uh in her apartment uh she actually filmed the potato masher on the counter uh kind of spinning and wobbling around she said she filmed it uh they didn't look at the video for a couple days before going back to actually look at the video and and see what's going on um she said because of the cursed potato masher she's gonna hang on to it because she doesn't want anybody else to have the cursed potato masher and have the paranormal experiences that she's had in the fear and the creepiness and now I have had a chance to have everybody here take a peek at the video of the haunted potato masher because you can go you can youtube this stuff just google haunted potato masher and you can watch the video um so let's kind of go around the room just get an opinion real quick let's start with the end the end what is your opinion on the haunted potato masher so my opinion was false because the movement of it seemed too regular okay don yeah not a real feel for it at all can i mean there was just there's so much energy coming off of that that potato masher um i mean to me it seemed totally legit if if you're if you're no um the way it was moving uh every time it was moving very erratic which is not normal when it comes to something moving in my experience anyways and the other thing that kind of caught my attention is is every time the potato masher kind of started to settle down and it would start up again it would always start up in the exact same direction as if it was being pulled by a string it was never that never started up in a different direction it was always starting in the same direction well and what was interesting too is uh the video is very low quality it's probably like a uh 360k i mean it was and so it'd be real easy to hide a string in a video of that poor quality well i mean this was also sitting on one look like a bar so anyone could have easily been ducking down behind this counter right so for the verge we actually actually had peaches uh look at the video um and Tim looked at it too and used his psychic abilities for uh my i didn't feel any energy off of that at all yeah and peaches confirmed there was no energy so it does look like it is fake so unfortunately the the haunted potato masher we'll have to find another haunted potato masher because that one is clearly not legit second story i have for us tonight this was actually on national news um i don't know if any guys saw about the bones of the 57 year old uh or 57 year old mystery but back in 1961 George Carroll disappeared from his house um and his children had spent the last uh 57 years trying to find him um it got to a point where they actually brought in a psychic and they had the psychic come in uh and the psychic came into the basement and basically said he's buried right there um they started digging i know someone else i could have done that i do too which is why i thought that peaches would be interested in this particular story uh but they started digging where she indicated and i'll be darned if they didn't find the bones of their father who's been missing for the last 57 years interestingly enough the children all suspect that their sweet mother probably killed their father very in the basement um but mother has since passed away and so uh it remained a mystery as far as exactly what happened and how it happened but i thought that was interesting because we did have that investigation years ago uh down in uh pace in utah where the family said that there was a tombstone in their backyard that they like removed and and they told me this but they hadn't told anybody else in the tinnest and when uh peaches showed up she indicated right where in the yard there's a body buried which is where they had removed this tombstone they just thought it would have been placed there kind of as a decoration or a gag or something like that uh so we do know that peaches can do the same thing she can locate body so if you have a body that you think is missing your basement yes we'll uh we'll see what we can do we'll schedule any appointments all right so you know what else i found fascinating i know everyone's been talking about the show on netflix the show that's supposedly so scary that people are passing out um i've had a chance to watch it peaches is watched it the families have watched it and it's an excellent show and if you get a chance go watch it it's called the haunting of his house it's pretty good it's phenomenal it's got a great storyline and uh peaches actually posted a story on our facebook page about the house that was used to film the outside shots the actual home that they used for the the series is in itself haunted interesting interesting i'd be curious know where the exact home isn't that would be fun to investigate if you look at the outside of that home it just it looks super creepy yeah all this like all the shots they use for the outside the actual homeowners have i believe i've come forward and said that they've actually had activity in the house all right so let's get on with our topic um we have chosen the topic tonight of vampires and so you may ask why vampires was after it's paranormal well quite frankly nothing um but when we told several people last night that we were talking about vampires their eyes lit up so kind of what we're doing i know we've touched on this briefly um yes we do talk about ghosts and investigations but again there's only so much topic we can talk about without just being super redundant so we are going to touch on other supernatural topics and we'll get to the history behind it um we're gonna try and stay away from too much uh actual fiction uh but we're gonna talk about vampires um so Tim would you like to lead our discussion tonight uh sure uh so what i do know is that the vampire sensation kind of actually started right about the same time as our last topic it was towards the maybe towards the end of the whole sale or the action not the sale in which trials but just the wish trials in general that we're going throughout europe um this was the time when they were kind of transitioning into using actual science to discover things but they were still relying a whole lot on superstition um they also had vampires and i remember one of the first recorded cases that they talked about was i can't remember the name the guy's name or what country was in but there was a spirit or not a spirit sorry um because spirits is normally what we deal with uh there was a guy that was buried and it was probably about 45 days or so after his death where a lot of people kind of had reported seeing him in their houses at night and whatnot and um they had i believe this little city that they were in had uh approximately like 19 death uh from people just like having severe loss of blood and that's actually kind of where the name vampire comes in is vampire i guess a Slavic for uh blood sucker right um so what was going on is you know how these people they were just kind of dying and it seemed like it was all from a loss of blood and so they actually pulled up this guy's grave and opened up his coffin and he's still like he was still in there and he showed the normal signs of like regular decay but the inside of his coffin was also covered in blood what wasn't there when he was buried what's interesting too is uh and we'll get into this in a little bit more depth but decomposition actually works a little bit differently when you're buried versus above ground and so it's not what they were used to seeing uh the regular decomposition um so yeah they kind of freaked out and thought dude is a vampire that's uh that's what i've got so far um what was interesting in my research though as i looked into it um a lot of cultures like most cultures have some kind of empiric lore uh in fact i know ancient greased dead um and yeah i read about that the uh it was in the greek mythology where um what was the guy's name my camera and blueer i have his name okay this is actually one of my love greek mythology so um it was about 400 to 800 b.c and it was in delphi and there was um an oracle there that people would go to get their prophecies and there's a guy named ambrosia and he fell in love with one of the the priestesses at this oracle and um it's not like a terrible fruit salad made with like whipped cream yes okay yes it is um and so he fell in love with this girl and he says hey we're gonna run off and get married well this really pissed off Apollo because Apollo kind of liked this girl too apparently she was like super hot so Selena was her name i have i found the notes on them but yeah go ahead i mean he wanted her and so um so he got really mad and he said and again this is really brief but he said you know and he cursed he cursed ambrosia and he said you know anytime that you're in the sun the sun will burn you um you know to try to keep him away from Selena so you know so he said so he sends a note to Selena and says hey you know i'm not gonna be able to meet you but hang on he runs off to Hades and he he kind of says you know because he's got to be in the dark because he can't be in the sun and Hades says well help you but you need to go and um can like be a double agent go hang out with Artemis who is Apollo's sister and um try to get her silver bow and so um you know he ran off and was trying to get this bow from her and she found out that you know he was trying to be sneaky and so she cursed him that he would get burned every time silver touched him um so so now he's like double cursed you can't be the sun he can't touch silver um so he you know gets a hold of Selena as you know i'm still trying to get us together hang in there um and so then he makes another deal with Artemis and she says well if um how does this go well i so what i've got here is that she actually felt bad for him because what was going on here so she actually kind of gave him a blessing at this point and gave him super strength and mortality and fangs to kill the beast so he can use their blood to write love poems to Selena right and so they ran off and they actually lived together they could live together they just couldn't touch each other so they lived together you know for years and years but the problem was is he is an agent and she is and so um at this point Artemis says well if you drink her blood she'll become immortal and you guys can be together forever so he did and when he bit her and drink her blood her spirit kind of went up and joined the moon and she became the goddess of moonlight cannot go to the moon that's different but the goddess of moonlight and so when the moonlight would touch him that's you know she could finally touch him and they were together forever and then here it also says from that point when they combine the two of their blood together and anyone that drinks that they turn into a vampire and they're their children interesting see i didn't run across the great mythology i'd rented some other stuff i know that there's a Australian vampire that looks like a frog that makes him like cooler than you um that's debatable actually it's not um but keep telling yourself that pal there was a Asian vampire that like we'll basically drag its intestines around and kind of use it's tongue as like a uh a foot to kind of help drag itself around every culture has some vampire story or other but what's interesting with that Greek one is it actually explains a lot of stuff with uh the vampire that everybody else is fairly familiar with which is the eastern european vampire which is thought to be a mix of christianity and uh an indian belief because the indians uh from india dot indians not feather indians um exactly they're indian people that's super it's your hate mount accounts org you've been hanging out with chanler than a vahu that's a microaggression just trying to clarify uh but for in india they had these myths about uh blood drinking demons uh and then christianity was kind of sweeping across europe and christianity for everyone who's familiar christianity deals with basically the holy divine blood of the savior which is all cleansing and so these two kind of cultures mixed uh and so kind of the thought behind vampires drinking blood was that is kind of a of cursed immortality where they would basically consume someone else's blood to stay immortal but it was kind of a cursed immortality because they were taking it from somebody else just like Voldemort just like Voldemort i have no idea i'm just doing what the reference i don't understand harry potter you don't understand harry potter i do but it got you were dead to me he's not a vampire i know but he drank blood to stay and to stay alive was unicorn blood doesn't specify what kind blood is blood it was silvery blood unicorn blood it says in the first book yay harry potter i don't know how we got from vampires harry potter but were there folks because Voldemort drank unicorn blood is still alive and there you go he's a vampire all right so let's talk about ways that it was believed he could become a vampire um first and the most obvious one i think the one that pop culture uh really latches onto is you get bit by vampire and you can become a vampire um and pop culture has it that you can either drink a vampire's blood or just getting bit it just depends on who's right in the script uh but that was even back then was it was believed that if you were a victim of vampire you were more susceptible to become a vampire yourself we'll see and if you go back into like we were talking about the Greek mythology it starts off with simply drinking the blood uh another method was suicide if you commit suicide you're more apt to become a vampire um if you're murdered you're more apt to become a vampire uh improper burial would make you more apt to become a vampire uh alcoholism if you're an alcoholic you could be a vampire my personal favorite though is if a cat or dog jumps over your fresh corpse you're likely to become a vampire they need a netflix back then i think i'm gonna become a vampire when i die so can you make sure your dog jumps over me this is the times corpse here spot here spot this is i'm gonna come over to your house with like coffin blood um can you have a jump over me i want to come back as a vampire you know i'm glad you mentioned coughing blood because an untreated infection can also be something like gosh vampires so i'm pretty sure between the dog jumping on you and coughing blood you're 90 percent there sweet immortality drink a few beers before you die you get kind of toasted yeah a little toasted price of witchcraft just make sure you only bury my foot because i would follow the improper burial but see here's the fun thing though as it says you want to try to stave away the vampires um we could nail into his coffin cut his head off turn it around backwards so he can't see how to get out of his coffin and dismember him that's how you prevent vampires um so we could have fun unless we actually bury you alive well that's what the bell is for i think if you've cut off his head and turned it around backwards you probably don't need to worry about the burying alive bark it's one of the other one of the other one of the other two sir so a lot of times back in the so as tim mentioned there's a lot of superstition and science was starting to just kind of rear its head but anytime kind of sickness or tragedy befell village uh one of the first things they started doing is looking after the vampire um they'd already apparently hanged or burned all the witches so well we got left as vampires that didn't work next so what they would do is generally they'd figure out who the suspected vampire was and they had a couple ways to do this um depending where you're at they usually took a virgin boy and they stuck him on a virgin stallion and the stallion either had to be black or white depending on where you're at and you took the virgin boy on the virgin stallion into the cemetery and if the stallion bulk that are grave that grave was highly suspected to be the grave of a vampire now another interesting note is the headstones the stone headstones were thought to be placed to kind of help pin vampires in their graves and if the headstones started to lean or fall over that was a definite sign that a vampire was rising or had risen because he had kind of knocked the headstone over so pretty much everybody everywhere is a vampire i spent a lot of time in cemeteries playing backpipes and nary a straight one well if they weren't which they were a vampire vampire if there was any kind of scene cold under coffin vampire again every every great side ever vampire you're buried vampire well i mean we did say this was right about the time the witch trials were ending so they needed something else they're already under burned all the women they were well even men were not buried them in the graveyard yeah because i mean the witches weren't allowed to be buried in the regular graveyards they had to be buried somewhere else vampire all right so um now what was interesting is when they they actually had a profession uh believe it or not they actually had vampire hunters that that was a profession they're usually respected clergy or uh like college professors and like quit their day jobs just to do this yeah they would actually go from village to village and kind of say hey we've seen you had like five people by the plague you got the vampires um and so they'd start asking around figure out who was a likely vampire and they would dig up a grave um actually had vampire hunting kits which i actually um i actually wrote some stuff down because i thought these vampire kits were interesting because it reminded me of kind of our ghost hunting kits and i could see it as being like back in the 1700s being vampire hunters instead of ghost hunters so the things they would have um they had um later they would have you know guns with silver bullets um but they would have stakes and holy water and holy oil they'd have a eucharist they'd have ropes crowbars um crosses looking to see these guys with their little little walmart mags now they only have the holy water the holy oil in eucharist if the church sanctioned their vampire hunters um if they were not church sanctioned then they didn't get to carry the holy water holy oil or eucharist um what i found was really interesting i was doing my research on this is a lot of times they also attributed sleep paralysis uh to vampires and uh they would have in some occurrences basically paranormal ghost type activity like poltergeist activity that they would attribute to a vampire in the area um which i thought was kind of interesting uh tie-in uh to some of the stuff that we've talked about one thing that was real fascinating though is one of the things that they did is they would go into some of these areas um where they thought they had the vampires and they would bury them in such a manner as to prevent them from rising as a vampire they'd put like scythes in their graves like you know manner that if they tried to set up it basically stab them so once they tried to race from the dead they'd be like who stabbed and stay dead my favorite was a head cutting off and straighten it backwards yeah they they they don't kind of wear stuff each to cut the ligaments in the back of the knees so if they rose they couldn't walk um they cut head off they put it down by the knees or put it backwards um they did a lot of things but the most interesting thing and Tim touched on this uh a bit was they were digging these bodies up and keep in mind they didn't understand science or decomposition below ground because bodies decompose at different rate uh they would see these bodies and they'd be kind of they'd have blood around the ears, nose and mouth uh and they'd be kind of bloated because they're rotting but they assumed that they were the blood was from feeding and that the bloatedness they were full um yeah in addition um they would expect them to have organ mortars because that was what they had experienced but after a certain amount of time the rigor mortars goes away and the joints of a deceased person become movable again but they would expect them to have rigor mortars and be stiff and when they dug up these coffins and the bodies inside they didn't have that rigor mortars at that point and what was fascinating is they would basically take a stake a wooden or iron stake and stake them through the chest into the ground well it depends if you're in Russia or Germany they'd stake you through the mouth uh other places are staking through the heart and there's one other region I can't remember which region where they would stake you through the stomach uh but they basically stake them through the chest and they said that when they do this the body would groan and what actually was happening is those gases that were building up for decomposition would pass out the throat through uh like the vocal cords and the yeah and give you an actual ground so like oh vampire uh so that just confirmed that the their dead was not actually dead it was undead another part of that was it was the staking to the ground they felt that that would by pinning the ground they would then be able to decompose uh and also prevent them from rising my favorite thing was they also said that um there was one doctor that would go and fill the for pulses and then he would say that he would fill slight pulses in some of these corpses they've ever picked up a board or picked up something and he felt your own pulse um I think he was feeling his own pulse and I thought that was kind of interesting now one thing that kind of helped feed this hysteria if you will about vampires is this is in these days they didn't understand comas and it was quite common to accidentally bury people alive it was kind of a hysteria they'd actually put bells like Kim was talking about on graves uh because people don't want to be buried alive and so they'd dig up some of these coffins and if somebody who just passed into a coma for a short period of time and they tossed them in the ground they'd wake up and clogged inside their casket before they suffocated and uh they would open up the casket see the claw marks and they'd go oh yep vampire vampire and a lot of the burials would happen very quickly because of the illnesses and the flags that were going around and you didn't want to have you know dead people around very long so you put them in the ground well they might just be like you say in a coma we're very weak from the illness which they then recover from but you know they've been very very buried very quickly and well in the days we don't have preservation like uh we do now I can take from my experience first hand it doesn't take very long for a body to start smelling pretty terrible so that would be another reason why you'd want to break it quick because you don't want a stinking rotting dead body hang around for more than a day or so because they don't smell good um another thing too when they would open these graves a lot of times the skin would shrink back from the gums they would kind of start to dehydrate so their teeth would look elongated their fingernails would look elongated or the fingernails would fall off and they'd see the nail beds um the skin around the face would sometimes dehydrate and so it looked like the facial hair was growing uh which again kind of fed into their mentality that these people were not truly dead that they're rising as vampires um now some of the methods of destruction were kind of interesting because it depends where you're at but some people believe that you've burned them uh to put them to rest you decapitate them stick through the heart um in some places they would bind the limbs so they tied arms and ankles together uh what i found was really interesting is i did the research is there still places uh kind of remote places like romania and stuff where they still practice some of these things um where they'll actually go bury the person in a religious ceremony burying about a foot deep and after the priest leaves the family comes back stakes and through the heart and that does all their anti-vampire stuff and this is a modern day society where this still happens uh in some of these remote areas of eastern europe and uh other areas you know some of the things i thought was interesting when you go and look back in through history um you you look at i mean the most well-known vampire today in a folklore and fiction is uh camp dracula and legend has it that the camp dracula is sort of based off of um vladian paylor or vlad drakula who was a ruler in romania and he lived during uh was at 1456 to 1462 um he's uh pail he's been described as uh i guess he was a just but they very cruel uh leader and some of the things that he did is because he was fighting off the uh the Ottoman Empire but the way he got his nickname the vladian paylor is is how he liked to kill some of his enemies what he would do is he would take a big wooden stake and he would basically impeller bodies and then just put the stake out in front of his castle and that was kind of a thing that if i remember correctly he did that was just kind of ward off other enemies being like you know if you come this is what awaits you um now some of the legend also says that while he was uh around some of his dying victims after he upheld them he liked to dip his blood or dip his bread in their blood and eat it it was just so gross um it says whether whether or not these this is true it's like sproking um whether or not that's true it's it's still unknown it's just one of the rumors about what he used to do um you know that was because of things like this that's where brom stalker kind of got the idea for Dracula yeah i say brom stalker actually didn't call his vampire Dracula at first in fact it was right up until the publishing date where he changed the name of the book uh to Dracula he actually had some other name but he figured out it was actual person that was not that interesting uh so he went after the vladian paylor the interesting part about vlad though is i uh did some research on that it's really unclear how vicious he really was because it seemed like a lot of uh the reports of him being super cruel were from basically his enemies uh and so some of it seemed like it was more propaganda than anything of the Saxons were like not very proval had so they're telling the pope how awful vlad was uh so i'd be curious to know how much of it is legit how much is just his enemies making him look like a real dick well from what i understand in romania they still kind of look to him as like he was a hero of the people oh yeah he still felt care on romania what was interesting is the name uh dracu uh it actually means the dragon his father would belong to an order called the order of the dragon but it also means the devil um and dracu the law in the end actually son of so he's the son of the dragon or son of the devil is kind of what the dracuuma means uh which is kind of interesting yeah it's interesting i did not know that our reports have it that he supposedly impaled up to 200,000 people during his uh his reign uh he actually spent most of his reign in prison where it was reported that he impaled rats and birds and mice in his sail while he was imprisoned um like i said a lot of reports are kind of difficult to discern what is fact and what's fiction uh as far as what he did um it's been so long and again there are a lot of his enemies are the ones who reported what he was doing i thought you were gonna say he spent most of his reign making impaling sticks if he did 200,000 yeah well i mean he was a leader so he would have had servants for that to bring me another whittle of nine now another one who's really interesting is uh her name is bathory elizabeth bathory tell us about elizabeth him so elizabeth bathory is she's not very well known um but she's probably the most infamous uh women female serial killer of all time um she's from one i understand have has more victims than any other female serial uh well they refer to her as a serial killer um i think she qualifies i think so too i believe she has a total they contributed uh 80 deaths to her i've heard up to 650 and some of the information i've seen oh i was saying some of the research i saw was close to 400 so i mean yeah she she was that there was a lot let's just believe it there was a lot basically like the way that she's always been described to me is she was like the female version of lathe and paler um what she would do is she would murder some of her peasants and uh and torture them and because of her rank she was i she was a counters i believe um she was kind of untouchable so she could do basically whatever she wanted no one no one ever did anything about it uh one of the ways that she tortured people is i believe she took uh nails and like shoved them underneath people's uh their fingernails ouch um but see it says i've got here that um she was also like when she was raised and this is kind of like it totally makes sense like why she would end up doing stuff like this is that she was raised uh as a satanist uh her parents raised her as a satanist and then her aunt also taught her about satal masochism and i guess she married at the age of 15 and her husband um kind of like let all this stuff happen and um they actually they're actually saying they're actually saying that uh he she was actually really tame so to speak while he was alive after he died she just got worse well and part of the reason she did this was she believed that drinking the blood of of all of these victims would help keep her young in a mortal right in fact uh some of my research stated that she also uh was kind of a firm believer of uh the you are which you eat kind of thing and she not only drank the blood of some of her victims but she actually uh cooked and consumed body parts of some of these victims and it was all a peasant servants of hers that she would you know swindles where you get the job application do you want to work for the count just no well in some cases the parents would take their their daughters there thinking that she was going to train them and into semedica and and kind of give them a leg up yeah and then you know she would just keep them so yeah and with that she was also um the man that she married was below her in rank and he actually took her name um she was she was higher higher rank as a accountess than he was and he was away um a lot and so she pretty much had run of the run of the castle and could do pretty much what she wanted to do um but they talked a little bit about that relationship and some things that were going on there but it also talked about like her her nanny or the people that raised her were you know satanist her parents they were into black magic and those kinds of things too well what was interesting is uh because she was preying on these peasants basically nobody cared in those days the the powers of the beer like that what's a few peasants so it was a basically a non-issue uh what was going on up into that point well you know just want to throw them there some more of the ways that she like tormented some of these people uh she would cover them with honey and tie them up and let the bees and the ants get to them uh they like dan mentioned uh she would eat them like she'd just bite chunks of flesh out of her victims and there was also one victim that she supposedly forced this girl to cook her own flesh and then eat it kind of like in uh an animal where he made Ray Liotta's character eat his own brain it was similar like that he made that she made this girl cook herself and then eat it eventually because she had done so much it did get back and they she wasn't present in her own castle well well ultimately uh kind of brought her down uh was she ended up preying on one of her noble servants one of her servants who did have some noble blood and once uh a noble woman had died then the actual powers that be started to suddenly care uh because you know it's okay to lose a few hundred peasants but all of a sudden when somebody of rank and power uh disappears um and then you got trouble then you got trouble and so that's kind of what was her ultimate doing was the fact that she ended up preying on an noble woman so she was actually put on trial that this is where i got the eighty from she was put on trial for eighty council murder um everyone that helped her was actually convicted but she got off uh i mean she was convicted but she wasn't executed she was the only one that got out of execution they did throw her in gel uh and the room that she was in only had slits for air and food and she said she somehow survived for three years it actually bricked her into her it's like to remember it was her own room yeah so she was there for three years before they found her dead in uh 1614. Well the interesting thing is i guess she had got it in you know the attention of the guards and told the guard that her hands felt cold and he told her you know to go to sleep and then in the morning she was dead yeah he peeked in and found her and moving that was the end of Elizabeth Bathory um now one thing to note with vampires um the original vampire as seen by earlier peons uh was basically a shambling walking stinking corpse that would go around and drink blood in fact the whole thing with garlic was it was believed that the smell of garlic was punched out enough to ward up the smell of dead body um and so that's where the whole garlic thing came from which is also used by vampire hunters but if you watch the movie The Lost Boys Garlic doesn't work.

No you're right which leads to a fantastic point um about the time of Brum Spoker's Dracula which was in 1897 when that book was published uh and Fergist aside no is the second most published book second only to the bible um and is still in print today by most publishing houses uh Brum Spoker kind of painted a different picture uh of what a vampire is uh then from there other playwrights and books and movies started to kind of romanticize vampires it made him kind of swab and Devin there and uh kind of sexy that's what i was about to use it's kind of sexy just watch interview with the vampire with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise that's all it is is they're all sexy vampires then we get to 2000 and we have sparkly vampires oh jesus sparkly sexy not they're not vampires sparkles no bad vampires anyway don't forget to get your tickets for family treat January 11th at vespernormal.com and everybody have a good night good night good night good night butterflies this has been the supernatural hour at eventsparanormal.com
