Mark Carney has been chosen the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, replacing Justin Trudeau. That means Carney will become the country’s 24th prime minister. He promises to call a federal election soon. Carney, who served as both the head of the Bank of Canada and then the Bank of England, claimed 86 per cent of the votes in the Liberal leadership race. Chrystia Freeland came in second with only eight per cent.
