from CKNW · host CKNW

VANCOUVER SCHOOL DISTRICT PROJECTS $27 MILLION SHORTFALL FOR 2016-17   The Vancouver School Board Chair is calling it a "very sad day" as the board stares down a huge operating budget shortfall. Mike Lombardi has posted to facebook that senior management at the school board are drawing up proposals for dealing with what he calls a "huge" 2016/17 operating budget shortfall of 27-million-dollars. He says the details are to be released on the VSB website this afternoon at two. A public presentation of the proposals takes place a few hours later at 5:30. Lombardi says school districts around the province have dealt with chronic underfunding and downloading of costs by the provincial government for years but he calls today a particularly "sad day."   Mike Lombardi Vancouver School Board Chair
