Vandalising Eden - A Grammar of Sin

from Emmaus Church · host Matt Bowen

We all intuitively know that things are not the way they are supposed to be. Something has violated the harmony that we know deep down that we are made to experience in this world. As we enter the season of Lent (the 40 days before Easter, Sundays excluded we are looking at the problem that the cross is the solution to. We are looking at what has gone wrong; so much so that it requires something to be done about it - something so cosmic and large that God became flesh, and entered our suffering, took on judgment and endured a shameful public death. This event that we call good news. If that story is the good news, then what on earth has happened in the first place?  What is the plight of the human race such that an act of Divine love shaped by the cross was the answer? In this Lenten season we will explore the topic of sin as the vandalism of eden and therefore look at the wonder of the Savior who came to rescue the world from sin and its effects.
