De Leukaemia Foundation zegt dat één op de twaalf mensen in Australië het risico loopt om de diagnose bloedkanker te krijgen. Door een gebrek aan bewustzijn over de symptomen worden veel kankervallen echter pas laat ontdekt. Volgens de stichting zal bloedkanker naar verwachting in 2035 andere vormen van kanker inhalen.
