Venables Calls Georgia Gold Standard | Georgia Bulldogs Football News

Oklahoma’s Brent Venables just called Georgia the “gold standard” in college football, praising their near-impenetrable home record — a brutal reality for the Sooners as they prepare to face them on the road. With only one home loss in the last half-decade, Georgia’s dominance in Athens is no fluke. Their only prior meeting — a 2017 Rose Bowl overtime win that sent them to the national title — already feels like a classic. Venables’ bold words are setting the stage for another historic showdown, and with Kirby Smart’s media day appearance looming, all eyes are on Athens as the SEC season heats up.
