Venerable Schema-nun Martha of Diveyevo: A Life of Prayer and Obedience

Today we remember Venerable Schema-nun Martha of Diveyevo, born Maria Semenovna Milyukova in 1810. From a young age, she was chosen by Saint Seraphim of Sarov to remain in the Diveyevo community, where she lived a life of deep prayer and asceticism. Maria, later Schema-nun Martha, helped establish the new community at Diveyevo, carrying bricks and performing many obediences with silent prayer. She reposed peacefully at the age of nineteen, and Saint Seraphim honored her as a spiritual mother and intercessor for many.Support the show
