Venerable Simeon of Emessa the Fool-For-Christ and His Fellow Ascetic John

Today we remember Venerable Simeon of Emessa, known as a Fool-for-Christ, and his close companion, Venerable John. Both were sixth-century Syrians from Edessa who devoted their lives to monasticism and ascetic struggle. Their journey began with a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and led them to desert monasteries where they embraced a life of prayer, fasting, and spiritual struggle. Simeon later chose to serve others through humility and foolishness for Christ, while John remained in the desert until his death.Support the show
