The current crisis in Venezuela is about democracy, economy and security. Poverty, scarcity, and human rights abuses are increasing, while social indicators are plummeting. Is there a peaceful, democratic way out of this crisis? Edgardo Lander is Professor of sociology at the Central University of Caracas, and one of the leading thinkers and writers on the left in Venezuela. Hear him in conversation with Iselin Strønen, Researcher at Chr. Michelsen Instiute, Alfredo Zamudio, Director, Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue and Leiv Marsteintredet, Associate Professor at Department of Comparative Poltiics, University of Bergen. Moderator was Benedicte Bull, Professor, Centre for Development and the Environment (SUM), University of Oslo. The event was a cooperation between SUM, Norwegian Network for Latin Ameria Research (NorLARNet) and the Nobel Peace Center.
