Hinsey was tussen 2011 en 2014 als junior science engineer en later als performance engineer actief bij Force India, waarna hij de overstap maakte naar Red Bull Racing. Hier werkte hij tot en met 2017 als trackside performance engineer voor Daniil Kvyat en Max Verstappen, om vervolgens tot en met 2021 als simulator performance engineer aan de slag te gaan.
