Led into the castle’s secret Sanctum Sanctorum, Stefan discovers the chapel transformed into a temple of science. There, the baron unveils his greatest creation: a colossal brass dragon infused with “artificial intelligence” and proclaimed as the true savior of mankind. As steam hisses and its crimson eyes blaze, the mechanical beast thunders a dark prophecy—crushing Stefan’s Christmas hopes and leaving him shaken in faith. Cast out through a hidden passage into the wilderness, the boy trudges into the gloom, weighed down by doubt and despair, until a sudden sound in the forest halts him in his tracks.
